Im seeing anyone wants to do a Western Nats? I was planning a meet in las vegas nevada at the drag strip Oct. 16 09 but I want to see if we can make it a Sy/Ty S-series Nats for the west coast. I know a great hotel to stay in. Its not a arm and a leg and its in a good area. We can do a cruise from the hotel to the strip that night and maybe do something saturday too. Any one want to come? And anyone wanna help me plan it to make it into a western nats?

i think we need to post something up in the Lounge. more people will see it then. also a poll, of where to have it. i think either Vegas or Denver, Vegas would probably get more heads to show up.

Vegas could be too much fun, the strip for 3 days and syty's for 3 days! There would definately be a small convoy from Canada coming down

Do an event on the same scale Renz and co. did in KY and you'll be suprised how many will show up:2cents:

I don't get it, technically Nats 11 was an Eastern Nats:2cents:

If this event happens it can be Nats 12 since there won't a Eastern Nats in '10

Nah, DaveP was there, so it was truly a Nationals. :tup:

The goal is to make "Nats" a national event drawing people from all over. In the off years, (Nats being every 2) owners can focus on regional events, where people don't have to get stressed about "driving too far."

I drove 12 hours from the EAST...so it didn't feel all that eastern to me. If anything, it was the Southern Nats.

AFAIK, "Nats" have never been "east" or "west"...doesn't mean it can't be changed I suppose since there's no formal governing authority, but I agree with TJ that it should be a stand-alone event.

I would suggest if you serious about doing a western meet, I would try contacting those who have done the previous regional meets to give you idea's and pointers for planning a regional meet (NE Extravaganza, Homecoming, Shindig)

Ok well im trying to get a event going for Oct this year in vegas for sure, Next year maybe it can be closer north like reno nv or salt lake or something. I was looking into doing a big event not just for sy n ty but all s-series so we all can injoy it. This one in oct might be not as big as nats but if alot of people come we can work on haveing a big one next time and just have it the year the nats isnt. Who were the main people that put on nats this year?

I think October is too soon to be having one. I don't think you'll get many people outside of the area to show, since 1.5 months doesn't give people enough time to plan. For nats, we had MONTHS to plan for it, even though there wasn't a date set in stone until it was closer to the date.

However, at the little AZ get together we had, we did discuss a western nats of sorts, and it was pretty unanimous that Vegas was the place to have it. Personally I think nats should move around every year kind of like the power tour, that way it would please everyone...just not all the time.:tup:

Vanilla Gorilla is right, to soon for a Nats type event. However, in the early spring could be perfect, i will still come for the vagas deal but a bigger even in march or something. I dont think we want to include all s- series, most of them are below ricer status in my book.

I am down for a hand in planning and whatever else is needed. anyone want to join said "group"? pm me and we can exchange info. Btw, Phoenix has a GREAT winter/spring track, just not a summer place, unless you like tires boiling before burnout.
