PPI Typhoon
DIY Madman
Well, I made the adapter with a MAX232, as like on the TechEdge site. There was one simple mod where I needed to bring pin 10 to ground through a resistor (10k), and then it worked.
All together, it was about $12 in part, but I could have kept it around $10 if I didn't go to damned RadioShack, but I got the wrong gender DB9 connector for the project box.
Hooked it up tonight and did a run. Works really well. Took about 30 minutes to assemble once I got everything situated.
I know a few of you were wondering if these worked. Well, I can vouch that it does.
Note: This DOES take Vcc off the serial port (two pins through 1N914 diodes), and does not require an external 12V source.
