Happened to my sy, and vette sitting at the house. I'm getting a camera system.

x2 .... this is a crappy reminder that it may not be a bad idea to have monitors in our vehicles recording what's happening while we're away. I would go ballistic if I ever saw someone doing this to one of my vehicles. Sorry about the damage Mike.

Here's one for ya. I had just gotten my 98 Trans Am rear quarter repainted.Mind you this car was a factory Blue Green Chameleon LS1 Trans Am that changed from green to purple to blue depending on what angle you were at and which way the sun shined on it.
I am sitting in it signing my parking ticket for the parking area we have to park in at work and I feel the car move a little to the side. I look over and a fellow co-worker has the door to the car she is getting into against the same rear quarter I just had painted 2 weeks prior. She didn't see me sitting in the car with the tint. I open my door and get out, the door still sitting on my quarter. She looks at me and says "WHAT??!!" "It didn't do nothin!!" I move the door and see the ding in the paint. "See that??" "That is something". She sucks her teeth and slams the door shut on the car she is riding in. I look at the guy driving and he just shrugs and gets in starts the car and drives off. I was so mad I found it best to just let them drive away. I buffed out most of it but the dented portion of the paint was still there if you looked for it. I guess the thing that pissed me off the most is the lack of an apology or anything remotely close. Instead I actually received attitude and offended her for even mentioning the fact that she just messed up $750.00 worth of body work. Amazing...
Hope your paint is salvageable.

I would litteraly beat somebody until I blacked out if this ever happened to me. That is one thing, messing with somebody's property, that I blow a fuse on and snap. I'm not a big guy but anger can be a dangerous thing. Sorry to hear this Mike, I hope karma gets the F#cker that did it!!!

Did you piss off your wife? My Friends wife took a hammer to his brand new SRT8 Chalenger and because it was in the garage. insurance would not cover it. It cost him $17,000 out of his own pocket to have it repaired.

hope it buffs out.

Damn crackheads Im telling you, hope it can be saved.
2 nights ago my brothers ex girlfriend showed up at 4am and went ninja on his infinity wit a cynder blick, hit it 3 times and she woke me up wit all the noise so the typhoon served as a chase car, well shes gettin sewd but the infinity now looks like crap

I suppose I am sort of lucky. It is on the driver side door and hood only. The scratch on the hood will stop my nail so I guess that will need a painting. The door is not nearly as bad. I could panel paint both of these myself in the garage if it comes down to it. I'm not sure I want to turn this in to insurance because they paid out when I got in the accident two years ago and I am not sure what they would do if they had to pay on it again.

I have been in some low down dirty scrapes with people before. I mean stooping to some mean levels, one thing I can say though, I never mess with a mans car. You just don't do that. The scratch on it makes me think it was someone passing by, reason why is, if it was someone I pissed off I think they would have done much more damage.

That sucks!

I have my sy under watch 24x7, it feeds to my phone and I can pull up the cameras on any internet connected computer. The DVR records about a months worth before tapping over. The daytime quality is great, the night time is ok, I have added additional IR cameras which has made the nighttime video alot better (night video pic is before i added additional lighting) The system was 399 for the DVR, outdoor wireless cameras (4). Its made by Lorex, costco carries it.

BTW--Don't worry...the Sy typically has a cover on it, these were taken while waiting for my new cover to come in after the landscapers melted the old one with their leaf blower exhaust heat.

Damn your luck. Btw, just as an observer, the scratches are smooth and flowing. As i have seen in my past, that almost always tells you it was female. Another note, is the depth of the scratch. Lighter pressure was applied than a pissed off guy would do. :2cents:

Very nice. When I had my addition built to my house, I added a 8 camera system that is motion activated.I have 3 cameras for each garage door facing inside out, 1 at each door entrance, 1 inside (motion/size activated), and others watch my property at all times. It sends me a text/email when motion activated. Very helpful, I can view when I want over the net. Great investment. 1 TB of storage too!

i had some a55 bounce their door off my dakota then sit there with his door rubbing back up and down on it for about 5 minutes while he fumbled in his truck my buddy tells me this (the guys truck was newer ) so after he walked away (now mind you i use my truck as a truck so it has dents ) i swung my door open so hard i had his truck rocking !!!! i hope he enjoyed his dent as much as i enjoyed my scratches !!

my cousin watched some douche scratch his car, he went into the store, bought a beverage and poured it into his gas tank......after he kicked in his door. He has some anger issues......but fun to go to the bar with.

Thats just it, I could probably re-paint the hood for less than half the deductible. I doubt they would damage that out at more than $500.

I'm so sad to hear that man. I'd love to catch a MFer doing that too. Beat down of a lifetime. Perhaps I'd key them....

I had that happen to my Mazad3 the year they came out in 04. I had the car for less than 48 hours and someone keyed it. I was pissed beyond belief. Then to top it off on the way back I got pulled over for speeding. I had to go to my room and tell the wife I'll talk later. I was about to pop.

Maybe a wet sand and buff from a pro?? At least matching the color is not bad if a respray is necessary. I would go get some repair estimates and go from there as to whether to approach the insurance company or not. Also check with some quality local detailers to see what they think. A good one should know quite a bit about paint and if that is a repairable blemish.

I know we all say we'd beat the person responsible senseless and that is the normal, understandable response to someone damaging your property or hell...even someone elses but I have been there and had to weigh the options through my anger with the person standing there giving me attitude. An arrest isn't worth it. Then you have a damaged vehicle and a court date/arrest to deal with and they may walk away with a ticket or less. If you catch the person it is best to call the police and try to keep your cool. Use your phone to take pictures of the person and the damage and if they have a vehicle, take pics of the vehicle and more importantly the plate on the car so if they drive off that is actually leaving the scene and is another charge potentially for them.
If they swing on you....then that changes the game completely and it is game on!!! At that point feel free to swing away but it is best to make sure you have a witness if possible.
