Its over this time.

So i think i have finally reached my limit of frustration and wasted time with these damn trucks. 12 years later i realize how bad it really been. fixed every little thing we could on my truck this weekend only to find out there is some kind of lower end noise in number 6. not sure if its a rod bearing, possibly piston slap from bad wrist pin? Either way i'm thinking its finally time to part ways. I really don't know what to do with the truck, i'm fixing the noise so the new owner won't have issues. I don't know weather or not to take my time and take off all of the aftermarket stuff or just leave it as is? I would really like to get as much as i can for it being a low milage super clean truck (52k on odo). Any suggestions? Anyone interested in purchasing?

Thanks,
Adam

For as big of a POS as you are saying your own truck is I wouldn't ask for more than $5 for it:2cents: What is done to it, any pics?

Re: Its over this time.

I know you're not looking for advice, but I am going to give you my :2cents: anyway...

TY is right. If you are going to try and sell the truck (especially here) you should delete this whole thing. I understand your hate for the truck right now, but you are going to get sooooo much less $$ for it when you bash it. I would not really be willing to give someone $$$ for their "piece of crap". I would just keep looking for the next one for sale.....

Good luck with whatever you decide!

BTW- I am a big fan of the green/gray

Re: Its over this time.

Say it aint so A.Pull that motor and send it out to checked, put back in and enjoy. You've spent too much time and cash to let it go for nothin. It's not your DD, so put it on the back burner and save up some funds. It's almost there, the body is mint, you have the good parts on it to make it the fast Ty you've wanted. I knowyou're frustrated now with it,but get it checke...it could be an easy fix, but I know what you have in it, and to let it go for pennies, will haunt you. Caal me if'n you need to talk about it

What ever it takes!!
Re: Its over this time.

put the cover back on it & give it a rest for a while(1yr.) until you are ready to start fixing it. The truck has low miles & would be worth fixing.
Venting is good.

Re: Its over this time.

I can understand where u guys are comming from, but I'm trying to be upfront and honest with what's wrong and what's going to be fixed. I would rather let people see what's been done fixed or modified so they know what they are getting into. There are a lot of d- bag people out there that wouldn't do this and pass the problem onto the next guy, I don't want to be one of those guys. Using your guys logic not a single truck on this board should ever be sold again since they posted it broke on here.

Good point.....you sound like a stand up guy:tup:

Good luck and I hope you don't regret selling it.

I think that's a good idea for ya Adam. Just let it sit there for a little and then later in the year go back to it.

Re: Its over this time.

Harmon could or i can when i go back up there. its comming from number six, we verified this buy taking off the plug and the sound stops when there is no combustion in the cylinder. it is rpm dependent, ticks faster and slower with engine speed.

Re: Its over this time.

Just calm down for few days. See how you feel then. Look, we all need something to look forward too, something to tinker with.
Me personally, i get bored wathing tv, or cutting the grass. I actually injoy working on my TY (maybe insanety, maybe sickness) but i need it ! I think i'm hooked. Its my drug of choice.

Re: Its over this time.

Are you coming to the meet in Miami? The people who are coming are very knowledgeable. Do you think it would make it driving.? If not I can spot you my AAA (I get 4 tows at 100 miles a year) and have it towed here.

Re: Its over this time.

If you have the time, put it back to stock, sell the aftermarket stuff and then sell it, or keep it close to stock and keep it/or sell it.

Re: Its over this time.

Now is NOT the time to sell it, I have seen a handful of "stock looking tys" that are going for $5-7k ... with mileage close to yours ---

He seems like his mind is made up. I say sell it. Sounds like nothing but trouble. Like the rest of em. One thing I have noticed about owning these trucks is that you really have to have an overload of patience to deal with them. When I bought my Ty in 03 we replaced the fuel pump, ECM, Tranny and engine all before Christmas, we had bought the truck in Feb 03. That should have scared any normal human being far away!! But 7 years later, here I am. If you don't have the energy for it anymore why fight it? Just do what you think is best.
