Interior panels dying them?

I'm trying to get my Ty done for the most part and need to get both of the quarter window trim pieces. I found some blue ones in the junkyard but I'm unsure of dying them and want to keep it close to original colors and original looking as possible. Anyone have any tips on this? I've heard of the SEM dye/paint but don't know where or how to get it.

Parts stores sell it. There's supposed to be some good products out these days. Much better than the stuff from the past that was more like paint than actual dye.

The most difficult part will probably be finding a good color match. As long as you follow the proper procedures, everything should come out really nice. The demo I saw showed the dye penetrator the plastic quite a bit. You could cut into the plastic and see that it was deeper than just the outer layer.

scrub the parts with dawn soap and water very good, let dry, srpay with bulldog adhesion promotor (o'riely auto carries it) then spray with sem dye. I get my sem from local auto paint store or you can get it on line.

Sem sells their own adhesion promoter too. I believe I have a can in the basement. Pm me if you need it.

Alright cool I will see about dying them instead I think it'll save a lot of hassle

Sem also makes sem soap that does a great job of pulling off the contaminates and has a mild abrasive to help with adhesion. I use that then the plastic and leather prep when I do interior panels. Seems to work out well.

I used sem 39863 adhesion promoter and 17113 for the die on mine. Summit stocked them

I don't recall if there are multiple colors though. I used that on a console lid. Was damn close.
