Intake Noise

So I put a pipe on my 93 Typhoon. Now when I rev the engine and let go of the throttle, it makes a roaring noise. Sounds like your passing gas. Lol. I thought it was the pressure on the engine of the boost, so I installed a blow off valve. little good it did. Sounds the same plus the blow off valve doesnt seem to be working. Doesnt make noise and its an HKS one. Wondering if I got that hooked up wrong. Questions are: what is the noise it makes from the intake filter that I put on? Where do I hook up the vacuum to get this blow off valve working?

Re: Intake Noise

the noise you hear is probably the wastegate. I had trouble with my blow off valve working until I tapped it in to the intake manifold

Re: Intake Noise

the fluttering noise comes from the intake......i have read other forums that say its normal turbo noise but Ive never heard it before. And Ive had other syclone or typhoons before and this is the first one that makes that noise

Re: Intake Noise

I have a stock rebuild. Mine doesn't make a fluttering sound, but it does make a sound like a WHOOOOSH on the drivers side when I let off the gas.

The blow off valve is designed mostly to protect the turbo. Big turbos moving high volumes of air and high pressures need to be protected against a throttle body closing right away. All that air and pressure has to go somewhere.
