installing ultimate chip and injectors

Well I just recieved my new ultimate chip and 50 lb injectors today. I have a little bit of wrench time on my sy, but I wouldn't mind some tips. Like a good place to run the wires through the cab and a good place to mount the control box. On a scale from 1-10 how hard is it to get to and change the injectors in are sy's. Can't get to this project until next weekend so I have some time for the sugestions. I can't wait to see the difference this makes. Later...

When I installed mine I ran the wire right up behind the glove box and into it from the access panel in back. Mounted the control box in the glove box w/ a little velcro. Simple, easy, and out of sight from passers-by.

The injectors aren't real hard to change either, but will take a little time. Just be sure to take your time and mark all hoses and such that you disconnect. Makes it much easier to reassemble. Once you get everything out of your way(I/C, Upper Intake, etc.), just remove APFR, Fuel supply line, and 4 bolts that secure the rail to the intake manifold. Then you can just lift out the fuel rail w/ injectors still attached to it. Each injector has a clip to hold it on. Slide that off and remove injector from fuel rail. Maybe use a little light oil on O-rings to install new injectors. Reverse the process.
On a scale of 1-10, I'd say no harder than 4. It's actually real easy, just takes time to remove other stuff out of your way.

I may have missed some steps here (?) , but you'll see when you do it that it's pretty straightforward.

Oh, I never took my upper intake to replace the injectors, actually, I replaced my fuel rail, which meant I had to take the injectors out.

thanks for the tips. After looking it over a bit I have chose to take off the upper intake. I think it will make things much easier. Nice install on your controls on your chip. I think I'm just going to install mine in the glove box for now. Thanks again.

ok I have installed my injectors and my chip, but it seems to be running way to rich now. How much fuel pressure should I be running now with the new 50 lb injectos? I took it for a test run and it seems to be running ok and pulls a tad harder on the t1 program, but my air to fuel gauge is pegged on rich HELP :(

I assume you changed the map sensor too? and try running less fuel pressure. I know of several ppl running in the 35 range. you will need a scan tool or datamaster to really dial in your new chip.

ok I really do need to get a good scan tool now. Yes I did put a 3 bar map sensor in also. I was running about 40 psi I will try backing it down a tad and just keep it in the t1 program until I get a scan tool. By the way were did you purchase your scan tool? Brand name and such. Thanks

laptop and datamaster (www.ttspowersystems.com) is the way to go. Any others and they syty community will think your just as crazy as the rest of us.

No need to try to SAVE a few bucks on other scan tools, you will only regret it later.

OK we have problems!! Running on the t1 program at 15 pounds of boost my truck is detonating at full throttle. What gives? Any ideas?

You get datamaster yet? Hope that not audible knock. If I were you I'd stay off the throttle until you can really see what's going on. Does your guage say rich still while knocking? Have you checked your plugs to see rich/lean or if there's knock? Those mods require a scantool for sure.

Yes it is still running lean when I'm at wot. No I haven't ordered the datamaster yet but I have looked into so I will be gettting one soon. The sy will just sit still for a while until I'm able to purchase one. In the mean time I will have to pull the plugs to see what they look like. Thanks

Jeremy, I'm sorry I mistyped my last message. I am not running lean at wot. I pulled the plugs and they look fine. I bumped up the fuel pressure and it didn't detonate. Next I tried to up the program to the t1 with 16 pounds of boost, and it detonated. My thinking is that I will change the plugs because they do have some miles on them, and purchase some octane booster of some sort to see if that helps me out until I can purchase a datamaster scan system. Food for thought is that I only have 25 thousand miles on my truck. here are the mods that I have with changes of new injectors and the new chip. From atr, superpump, adjustable fuel regulator, black beauties turbo wires, copper core plugs, pit bull chip, that is just the fuel side of mods. Other mods, 12" lockup 2500 stall, filter and cool air kit, battery relocation kit, 900 cfm turbo, turbo oil return kit, 1 3/4 wastgate billet, air inlet kit, 3" downpipe kit, 3"race pipe, 3" exhaust system, contol value kit, 45,000 btu aux intercooler kit, oil cooler kit. Inside I have a 3 gauge pod with trans temp, boost gauge, fuel pressure, and I also have a fuel to air ratio gauge on the side of the dash.
