I've been thinking about one of those for a long time.
How much room from the floor to the ceiling in your garage?

My ceilings are 11' 5"

with that height.. I can lift the truck 70" up from the bottom of the frame to the floor.

the lift will go 76".. if I take the antenna off.. it would go all the way up in that height.

I paid $2250 for the lift.. delivered... probably another $100 in wiring, a breaker, etc.. to put it in.

I am very pleased with it... also had to borrow a hammer drill to put in the anchors.

I think it could be done in about 4 hrs... only problem was.. they send course thread nuts for the cable holds.. they were threaded fine.. and let me tell you how hard it is to find 3/4" - 16 nuts on Saturday afternoon. Finally I went to TSC and the guy said.. "oh that is the thread on the nuts on a trailer hitch" So I bought three nuts for 1.50 each and then a trailer hitch for 7 bucks because they only had three nuts.

BUT IT IS IN... 8)

Too bad you can't open the garage door with a vehicle lifted. I had a high lift garage door installed in my garage when I put the lift in. No more garage door opener but now I can stack two vehicles which is the biggest reason I bought mine.

How wide is that thing that you can actually open the doors to get out? At any rate very, very nice Nick. I know you'll love yours. I agree they are well worth the money.

Actually... you can open the garage door, if you choose to spend the money.

They have a "high lift" kit they can install... problem is that it is considered a commercial garage door opener... they are about $1000 and they will use your existing garage door and a new opener... it can be done though.

I was going to do it.. then I was like.. well I really don't need the door open when it is up.. so I will try it like this for a while.. if it is a problem for me.. I will spend the grand and do it later.

It is wide enough you can open the doors.. not all the way though. Width between the columns is 108", Ty width is about 64"

Here is budget solution to garage door.

Get a screw drive opener.

Move track around so door goes up to ceiling before making the bend.

Garage door companies make special pullys and springs to compensate for the new layout.

Opener then gets installed along the side of the door, motor at top, end at bottom.

A Bracket is made from moving part to door on the side. If I remember we had a bar going to mid door.

Works great.

I did have a little bit more ceiling height though, but door still had to make the curve.
