innovate problem

Hi!

I installed a snow performance alky injection in my ty and it works fine except of one problem. When the alky starts to spray my innovate wideband goes to preheating again after a short period of time.It shows 7.4 on my display as it does the first seconds after start up with the only difference that it stays there. Is the temperatur of the exhaust gases so low by spraying methanol or whats the problem? What can i do against this?
Please help me cause i have no clue...

Re: innovate problem

sounds like a wiring problem. It sounds like the alky is pulling power from the innovate. Are your power wires going to the same location on the fuse box? Might need to have them in different locations.

Re: innovate problem

Is the wideband in the stock o2 location? If so you might want to move it lower on the downpipe.

Re: innovate problem

Thank you for the fast response.:tup:My powerwire is directly linked to the alternator so i dont think thats the problem. Will try to move the sensor lower on the downpipe and hope this helps!

Re: innovate problem

Contact innovative and ask them before you go through the trouble. Also one there site they have a good forum you might want to search on as well

Re: innovate problem

I've never even seen an innovate gauge/controller go below 10.1. Every one I've used goes 10.1 to 18, probably not directly related to your problem, but what gauge are you using? Their gauge or did you program an aftermarket one to read the innovate controller?

Whenever I've seen a gauge flash it was over heating, if you're right after the turbo then it's possible. I have had really good luck with their heatsink on my regal, after a few WOT pulls it would flash and the readings would go crazy - that was on a supercharged car (roots blower), a turbo will likely make even more heat. I installed the heatsink and the problem was gone.

The problem occurs only with the alky spraying so its defenetly not a heat problem. The gauge was part of the set directly ordered form innovate.7.4 is flashing in the preheat process after starting the engine and is normal at the beginning i think...

Re: innovate problem

But i use the smallest injector from the set.I think its rated for 250hp!?

Not necessarily, I'm still betting you're over heating the sensor. Meth = cooler air which means potentially more boost = more fuel = more timing. It's like saying more intercooling equals cooler exhaust temps which isn't really the case. I'd buy a heat sink before I cut another hole and welded in another bung.

I do not have an EGT gauge, but you guys that do & are spraying methanol, don't your EGTs go down when the meth is spraying?

Re: innovate problem

I've read/seen temps drop before ranging from 50* to 100*, there are a lot of variables though. I'm usually not a proponent of meth injection, I've tuned one before using HP tuners (OBD2 car), it can be very finicky to get dead nuts.

Maybe you are right,i dont know but i know that 7.4 on my display shows the preheating process and a overheated senor shows another trouble code so......

RENE,please chime in!!Is my nozzle too big or am i spraying too early?????
