i just finished installing the johnson ic pump and heater hose lines...it doesnt seem to be pumping much at all. i hotwired it and hear it running but dont see much movement in the cac.

i removed the top port of the cac and pluged it with my finger to see it it was pumping out and it pumps hard for a split second then kind of dies down and just trickles out...any suggestions?

Prolly air in the system. It can be hard to get out. Or a plugged line somewhere? IC rad itself plugged?

Make sure that you don't have any kinks in the lines, it is VERY easy to do. Especially down near the charge cooler heat exchanger where it's difficult to see.

seems to be no kinks....i got most of the air out i think...i see a bit more movement but it only took like 2 quarts of fluid

Mine did that and it was air.I drive it a few miles and checked it again and it kept taking fluid for 2-3 times.Good luck!!!

Re: ic pump performance

You might try a different plumbing arrangement. As follows: Out of bottom of IC rad short ell into inlet of pump. Out the side of the pump up to the bottom connection on the IC. Out the top of the IC back to the top of the IC rad. This will allow the top connection to loosened to get the air out. Refill and run the pump as often as necessary until things are working.

Could your I/C be plugged?? I just sent both mine out and had them cleaned, put in the heater hose, Flowjet pump, and hotwire, when you turn on the key it sounds like a giant fish tank under the hood, then you hear the water flowing in the lines like a river. My buddy's all make fun of me, then they want to go for a ride LOL!!

You should have 4 quarts in the system .

Did you flush the lower heat exchanger? When I upgraded my pump all sorts of shit came out. I used CLR in it and soaked overnight.

Don said it all  . You either have a blocked core or air lock in the system and I bet you it's the air lock, they can be a real bitch  . Change your hose routing like Don said and "Burp" it till it takes roughly a gallon and flows good.
