I got two questions.

Where would you get a direct plug in aftermarket ignition for a syclone, like msd? Where is the best place to a scanning tool and what would be the best user friendly system to use?

Because where I'm from I have nobody that knows a single thing about these trucks at all.

TTS DataMaster is pretty much the best scantool available. It has awesome logging and graphing capabilities. However, you do need a laptop to run it on. The handheld scanners aren't much cheaper, and usually have little or no logging ability, and few display options (like only one parameter at a time).

As for the ignition, stock generally does pretty well. Often, adding aftermarket parts seems to cause problems, and you end up swapping OEM parts back in to fix those... Might not want to change everything over. I'm not an expert, but I've seen quite a few threads about ignition problems being fixed by going back to OEM stuff. You should at least look up some MSD threads and see what people are saying...

The MSD 6 series have worked well for alot of people but like Bill said, there have been problems. Your best bet is to try it if it works great if not turn around and sell it. The MSD system can be a plug and play with the MSD adaptor listed in the PN section of SyTyAuthority.

I like my MSD. Had some issues with it at first, but powering it properly, as well as getting the grounds up to snuff fixed it. After a year or so it just died on me. I cleaned up the MSD ground on the frame and all is well again. I notice the benefit of the MSD during alky use. I can run much more alky with the MSD working than without.
