Re: HomeComing 2013

I'm suprised at how shitty you guys have been as of late, its terrible to watch something as great as this forum get turned to shit by people like smoosh. You don't like it that fine, you don't have to insult people who work hard to put on great events, ecpecially when you reasoning is because I didn't enjoy talking to people, and there were bugs. Its MI, concider yourself camping, and get some spray. I've been to many events large and small (nevers nats, sorry) and what they do is as good as anything else for both activitys, and all around atmosphere.

There isn't a group of car enthusiests that I have delt with that as friendly, open, and willing to help out as the idiots here in MI. I completly understand not wanting to have an anual event.

I am very currious as to why someone like 13pelle would get banned, I looked over everything he has posted in the last few months and there was nothing negitive at all. He must have sent someone a random asshole email to someone for no reason, or stolen something from someone who never posted anything about it.

Well put!

Let's do this, still keep homecoming alternating from nats, but do a bbq on the off years like the ones in the past. Do a one day event in the park, cook some burgers and hangout and bs! The past bbq's still had a decent turnout.

Or maybe even try to plan something around the Woodward dream cruise! If we had a dedicated spot just for the syty that would be cool!

Re: HomeComing 2013

I would say keep it to every other year. I like the idea that Nats and Home Coming aren't in direct competition with each other. I know the way my work schedule is, and getting off time to attend both just isn't going to happen. Why go head to head when every other year has seemed to work just fine so far. Nobody is saying you can't hold a small local event, but why try to have two huge ones in the same season?

Also, with an event as large and involved as Nats and Home Coming, there is a ton more planning involved than most people realize. It's not just making a few phone calls and tossing burgers at people. I been on the organizational side of large car shows...anyone willing to regularly be that person, with out hesitation...you have my utmost respect. It's a sh!t job and you will have people complaining, no matter how good a job you do.

I don't expect my .02 to mean much, and I don't know what happened behind closed doors, but I really hope that Tony being banned was for good reason. If it turns out to be something as childish as an argument between himself and a moderator on the board...well that truly is disappointing.

Re: HomeComing 2013

didn't attend this year and won't attend any homecoming events.

other events have more to do and are much more fun, shindig/nats/etc..

The MI guys would know this if they ever traveled to other events, they might even learn a few things about putting on an event.

Comments like this are very disappointing especially by a community leader. Smoosh, Im certain you've insulted many more people than you intended. I've always paid a little more attention to yours and other community leaders posts in threads when I'm researching a problem or just random info because I generally trust this board and its OGs. But what are the newer guys like me supposed to think when we read a dividing comment like this and have been treated so well and welcomed with open arms by the MI guys?

Re: HomeComing 2013

well this is fun.

id say have both as often as possible. nats is trying to move all over the country, which i agree with but with a little one at home i am not flying any where so if nats 13 is west coast or even central hc would be a good option for me as the 9hr drive wasn't all that bad.

Re: HomeComing 2013

...For a slightly different viewpoint...
No offense to either SyTy Event (Nat's and Homecoming), but I wish there was
one gathering where all of the really built SyTy trucks could gather for fun. I am one of the few who have encouraged (by voting for)
a SyTy Trucking event to race against other clubs (such as S10s, Hemi's, Lightnings, TBSS, and SRT10 Jeeps)
for trophies/money.
While every year SyTy members gather to socialize, go car race, BBQ, auto-X, and trade stories, (which
are okay)
I would like to attend one race gathering where every Big Gun/Top Gun/low-ET Wannabee on this site
has an opportunity to show (or race) against challengers/groups (stated above). Not only best of show,
but best of class winners. Of course hyping the event via web forums (other than ours), magazines
and piggybacking on car shows (such as Woodward Cruise, Hot August Nights, etc) would be
advantageous for attendance.

In short, its not expansion of the Nats or Homecoming (into volleyball, or cooking) but offering
a completely new venue (out of the box thinking) that appeals to me, while keeping the
already socializing events.

Re: HomeComing 2013

I have tried to stay out of these issues but at this point I guess I need to speak up.

1st it is anyones option to put on any event they want. If I decide to put on a syty event for only gay owners, I should be able to do that no matter if nats is that year, HC, Shindig, etc.

In fact I hope more people put on local and large events it only benefits us all.

Now if I was smart I probably wouldn't plan a syty BBQ at my house the same weekend as nats. If I was planning a regional type event I wanted to attract a lot of people to (increase income to support more activities) I probably wouldn't do it the same weekend, month, and etc. of events that might conflict. In the end its my decision as an organizer to do so though and if that event is a failure or huge sucess should be 80% my credit. (nats during 9/11 didn't fair so well and not do to organization)

At the same time I am free to offer products and services outside of hosting an event to syty owners, dudes with long hair, guys that wear pink t-shirts etc. I can package Aspen colored 2% milk with a syty label and offer it for sale for whatever I want. Its up to the consumer to accept or deny being my customer. A few of you may laugh that Aspen colored milk is dumb, a few might argue over what movie it was in. In the end though I am free to do that.

It appears to me from a somewhat outside perspective as well as someone with some insight beyond public knowledge a few people have forgotten this fact. As someone that has offered products I spend a lot of hard work designing and developing for the syty world I have been deep into this. I have also been on the recieving end of things that may have happened I did NOT agree with. In fact some things outright pissed me off.

In the end though I am smart enough to realize I don't have control over that nor will I ever.

I do realize this community is partially about trucks and mostly about people. Sometimes ideas, thoughts, events, actions don't sit well with others. As a long time syty owner I choose to TRY to be mature about things though.

Sure there are people I don't care for that own a syty. Should be no surprise. I do choose to simply avoid those people though. I surely don't intend to make my dislike public via syty.net, newspaper/craigslist ads, TV commercials, airplanes flying banners, etc.

I think we all need to stop and think this is a big family of people that happen to own trucks. Some people here need to grow up a little bit. If you don't have nothing nice to say best to not say anything just like momma said.

Re: HomeComing 2013

I have attended 2 Nats ('02,'09) and all the Homecoming. I have had a great time at all the events. I go to hang out with all my SyTy peeps (hahaha) and of coarse to see all the trucks. I vote to have it alternating years between Nats and Homecoming. I agree that having a larger turn will help the event more in the long run.

I do have a question for the moderators here as people are asking. Why did Tony (13pelle) get banned? I think a bunch of people are wondering why he was banned. We don't need details but just a reason on why he was banned. I too looked at tonys past post to possibly see why he would be banned but I could not dig up anything. If this is how the board is going I may not be donating anymore. I am not saying simply because I know Tony, but just for a reason for the ban just like I have read in the past when others have been banned. Simple explanation is all that is needed.

This topic has absolutely no reason to be in this thread and would like it cleaned up and put back on topic.

However, since this question has been brought up and right now is current in here, I will chime in and say that it is currently being looked into since I do know the actual reason why (along with a select few that also include mods/admin). I WILL NOT be sharing what the issue or cause was until a somewhat clearer answer and/or resolution has been determined. I will say that the issue IS NOT related to HC hence it has no place to be in this thread.

Lets get back on topic.

Re: HomeComing 2013

Some people here need to grow up a little bit.

I have considered having a WEE-SY and WEE-TY event to aid those of us that need to grow up to do just that. The end goal is for ALL attendees to be SYTY Big Guns one day .

Seriously, all of us say and do things in haste. We all, despite our best efforts make mistakes and leave certain details unattended. I suggest this would be a good time to send some forum hugs and kisses and put all this nonsense behind you guys. The more we hack and chew on one another, the weaker we will become as a group.....and there is NOT that many of us when you consider the big picture.

Re: HomeComing 2013

You know my intent was not for this to get out of control like it did. I have no words to say how things went in this thread from some members on here. To be straight and honest about all this I feel bad that I one person comes on the thread and says something that they shouldn't have no names will be thrown I am not a kid. I have not owned and Sy or TY but I have owned a rare SGT that I wished I would have kept. I am looking at buying a TY from a board member, but now I don't really know if I should. I have a lot of people I have met on this board that I would consider my friends that I would give my life for if I needed to. I also have some that are not in MI that are on this board that I feel the same way about and I have never met these guys in person. I am just that kind of guy those that know me know that I am a straight shooter about everything I do. I want to be honest if I lived a few miles from some of you guys I would come visit to see the projects you have at your house so I could learn more about these trucks. For all of the MI crew I apologize if I started shit that was not my intention, but those of you that are always bashing this state you know where you can go and if you don't like it I will give you my address so you can come see me and discuss it further person to person. Remember I do not threaten anyone unles they threaten me then it is equal to greater force if you were in the Military you understand where I am coming from with that comment. This forum is awesome I would not change being a member here I just want us all to be more friendly to other members whether you like them or not. Hopefully soon I can buy me a TY and become a true crazy man of these trucks, but my first priority is getting back into the Army, thanks to everyone for letting me vent.

I am down as long as my Ty is running by then. If not I may just be there to admire everyone else's rides.

Re: HomeComing 2013

I don't see any need to clean it. Everything in this thread has something to do with HC, even the ban questions......since he is part of the planning commitee.

Re: HomeComing 2013

Well, I can't say I blame you for not liking the bugs in the field. I didn't either. None of us were happy about how that situation ended up and the person responsible was removed from the committee. There was no poor planning, just a dropped ball. That can happen to any event. There were no fields this year. Plenty of things to do as well. I had plenty of people tell me that the GM Heritage tour just by itself was worth the trip. The event has improved from the mistakes of 2010, and will continue to improve. Keep that in mind.

:rotf: you have me mistaken with someone else. I have zero problems with anyone in MI. I attended multiple events put on by MI members and after the last one i attended i said i wouldn't attend another. I'm all for hanging out and meeting new people, when it involves poor planning, nothing to do and sitting in a field getting eaten alive by bugs it bothers me. Especially after i have taken time off from work to attend such an event. Things like that stick and don't go away, I have never had a similar experience at another event syty related or not.

Have you read anything about it on syty.net? usually there is a lot of talk, posts, pics, etc after an event. Either everyone that attended agreed not to post anything or no one found anything interesting enough to post about it.

so yeah, aside from the people in MI(wade, pete, tim, etc), the event hasn't been good enough for me to attend it again.

Re: HomeComing 2013

I say keep it every other year. I have only attended the first homecoming and had a good time. My opinion only has to do with the difficulty a lot of people have with choosing which event to go to when 2 large events are the same year no matter how far they are spaced apart that year. A lot of people can not do 2 events like this a year with vacation time and family and all. I have no proof but would imagine homecoming this year benefited attendance wise by not having to compete for peoples time with nats. Now going ahead and having homecoming again next year the same year as nats will only hurt attendance for both events like many have already said. Plus since homecoming did not need to compete for peoples time this year I think it would be unfair to those spending their time planning nats this coming year to have to do all this work and have attendance possibly hurt with having homecoming the same year.

Just my opinion.
