I was lucky enough to aquire a set of 2001 Z06 magnesium rims in dark charcoal gery
fronts are 17x9.5,rears are 18x10.5, light as FCUK, let me tell ya....
any ways i have a set of 235/55/17 for the front and was gonna mount either a 285/40/18,or 295/40/18 for the rears I have a hub essentric rear spacers in 31 mm ofset to kick them out so they look flush with the front.

has anyone else did this set up...just looking for some help......
thanks inadvance.....

Thats a small tire for the front, I'm assuming it because you have them sitting in your garage?

Re: Help with new kicks

I have them. Zo6 wheels aren't magnesium though. I'll have to check the tire sizes I used tomorrow. I don't have a spacer on the back but I do need one. An inch will probably make it flush.

Re: Help with new kicks

I have those with
245-45-17 front
285-35-18 rear

This set up would make them close to the factory height tires of 26 inch, just thinking the low profile would make for a rough ride......
the sizes That I was more leaning to was 235/55/17,fronts,and 285/40/18 rears this would this would make them 27 inch, only thing the speedo would be out as the tire is 1 inch taller, may effect shift points as well...........

I think they did make a set that were magnesium. Can't remember what year ect but I remember seeing them out there on ls1tech. I will look around and try to find them maybe they were zr1 wheels idk.

Re: Help with new kicks

They did have a magnesium wheel option for c5's just not on the zo6. They were five spoke and a darker gold. I think they were a few thousand dollar option.

Be super careful who you take to do wheel balancing and mounting with these rims - when I worked at Chevrolet back in the early 2000's I can't tell you how many of these I saw come in destroyed from Tire mounting machines and people using hammer on weights. Iirc they were @ 1200 each then ( dealership price ).

C5 Corvettes had a magnesium option in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Never on the Z06. It was a $4000 option, later reduced to $3000.

Re: Help with new kicks

I I'd just stay with the same size tire and rim all the way around so you can rotate them :-D...I've dealt with what your doing now and it sucks when something goes wrong ...ask me how I know .. I now have two sets of c5 wagon wheels in 17's and 18's sitting in my storage locker now all mint .

What size wheels and tires are you using in this pic? I have a new set of 17x9.5s I am trying to find tires for also.
Not trying to hijack your thread. I just need a little Info also.
Thanks

Re: Help with new kicks

Do you have any rubbing in the front when hard driving in turns or hitting bumps while turning?

Re: Help with new kicks

Nope not with the 255 up front, I'm going with 295's upfront this summer to match the rears and rotate them...

Re: Help with new kicks

That combo is a proven size that is almost the same size in diameter.

which comb the 255s or the 295s ? If you do the 295s you will be changing to 18s in front? Mine are 17s all around and I want all I can get without rubbing.

Re: Help with new kicks

I did that combo of 255's in front in 17's and 295's in the 18s. Now I'm thinking I'll do the 295's in 18's all the way around but rubbing will occur with this combo. I'm sordove torn 17's or 18's though... What to do...what to do...
