Help me explain a "Turbo" to dump people...

Hello all, I am in a public speaking class and decided to do my 5-7 minute speech on a "Turbocharger." I will be bringing a turbo to class to show the different parts of it, how it works, and why they are used.

You guys wanna all pitch in a simple statement regarding a turbocharger, the specifications, parts, accessaries, mods, how to's etc that dumb people could understand?

Im thinking I might have to sorta explain how a 'engine' works first though.

Some didn't understand what 'boost' ment when i was making 2 examples of how it will kill an engine. They need to understand the dif. between vac & boost.

TIA

I remember that class well. Make it sound like you know what the hell you are talking about.
My recipe was, take a few facts, a large quantity of BS and mix well.

Remember to use the ol "an engine is like an air pump, the more air you pump through it the more power it produces"

I just had to do this a couple of weeks ago. I did a report on turbos vs. superchargers. My teacher constantly talks about the cobras and how he loves the roots style. So first thing I talked about was efficiency and he got pissed. My report was about an hour long and at the end of my report a couple of classmates asked him what is so great about the roots type and he said the ease of just switching pullies and blah blah then they asked me what the first thing I would do to a cobra (expecting me to say throw on a turbo) I looked Mr. Jones right in the eye and said rip off that roots and throw on a kenne Bell twin screw. He got mad and made me stay after class and told me he subtracted 20 points from my daily grade for my smart mouth. good luck.

Stab it and steer it
Now that we got turbo's all figured out tell 'em the difference between gas and diesel engines and why diesel's are more efficient…

It may not be what you think.

Yes, then ask where the throttle is and finish with “find the wastgate?” :-?
