Help, it blew up on me already!

^ yeah it's an add on.

Well, I found why the truck is running bad, the rear passenger side ignition wire is fried. I had re-crimped it and thought it was fixed, but the wire had melted on the end. Bad crimp job???

I re-crimped it just now, again, and stuck that bastard on nice and tight, truck sounds great again!

Alternator and battery seem fine now, I guess that there's not water directly getting into the alternator so I suppose it's a little happier now....

Time to get a new hood :p

you sure this tapping/ticking isn't just the injectors that you're hearing

Maybe, the O2 reads rich, I'm running the T1 15 psi setting @ 10 psi of boost on the controller, the truck pulls hard!!!! Runs GREAT now that I re-crimped that wire!

However :(

The Battery reads 17 volts!!!! idle is 11 volts, anything beyond 1500 rpms and the truck is 16-17 volts pegged and the check engine light comes on!

But hey, at least it runs and is fast :p Now, I guess I need to replace the voltage regulator... but I don't know where it is, internal on the alternator I'm guessing?

Thanks!!

Now, which model alternator... ahhhh....
most folks that upgrade go for a powermaster alternator; that truck has an MSD or something ignition correct? Don't overlook your battery being weak either; like you said about the plate, the regulator in my Saab died one night and I ran the battery so low running the wipers and headlights that it fried a cell; I charged it, it worked for a couple days then crapped out and wouldn't even take a charge. Just keep an eye on it. Finally putting the pieces together; we hadn't heard from Jer in a while either.

I was communicating with him via text and MSN Messenger. I'm pretty busy these days with varios things so my ability to reply to the forum regularly will be limited.

The alternator is a possibility although I never had a problem with it. Then again, I don't think I ever drove it in the rain either. I did wash it a few times then either drive it or pull it back into the garage and never had a problem. Funny how I started out looking for a Ty for a winter driver and ended up with a Ty that I felt too was too nice to drive even in the rain.

As for the battery, it's a brand spankin new Optima Red Top in it. I had one in that was about 6mos old and due to having the charger off of it for a bit it deep cycled and didn't want to recover. No problem though I took it in under warranty a month or two ago and verified at the time that the date code was current so that thing should be just fine.

If the alternator was running 18v there's a chance that it was even higher since that's where the voltage meter pegs out unless you had the scan tool scanning that at the time. There could be damage elsewhere including the battery so I would check it out all out real good.

Still confused by the plug wire and what you did to fix it. Did the wire burn all the way through and you just put the plug connector back on the end where it burnt and crimped it on??

Sucks to hear your already have problems man. You doubted me when I said that they were children that required lots of attention but I didn't think it would be this soon that you would be having issues.
