heater core blew

i was driving to work today and i saw leak marks on passenger side plastic piece. how hard is it to change (i looked at the sytyarchives and saw the pic)

i had to swap the heater core on the beater jimmy over the winter, not to mention in the parking lot up at my school. talk about blowing dick. i look forward to ripping apart my engine to tinker with it, but i can't forsee myself EVER again doing the heater core. if you want to save a few hours of frustration just have the dealer do it...

well sounds like i am going to have loads of fun i just bypassed the heater core so i am good for now it does not get really cold around here

It is not hard to change at all. just takes a little time. First time it took me 2 1/2 hours. Just follow these directions and you will be fine. Just try not to spill the rest of the coolant in the heater core all over the carpet. Goodluck

I agree. In general most newer vehciles suck to do heaters core. For me the heater core strap were the only thing that gave me difficulty. It was far easier me to my Ty's than my 85 Supra heater core.

a tip on the HC straps..


do not fully remove them... you can remove the bottom screws (the easy ones) so the straps will bend a little when you pull the HC out.... those top screws on the straps are a PITA, and you'll save alot of time if you just leave them in.


like mentioned, its not hard... its just time consuming on the steps taken to get it out. you'll get it down once youve done 3 or 4 of them

heh. we can do that shit in under 2 hours.


contrary to belief, it does get cold here for short periods of time...last year we had a period of low 30s, high 20s... not very cold to most, but Floredah standards, thats damn cold. Of course, I had blown my HC earlier in the summer and laughed it off and just bypassed it thinking this winter was going to be mild. :lol: I froze my ass off each day to work.

It got fixed soon after.
