Headliner recovering problem

Hey all, I am trying to recover the headliner in my '92 Sonoma GT. I have the headliner out, all the old fabric off, and all the old foam off. The problem is that I cannot get the old adhesive off. To no avail, I have tried: S.O.S. soap pad (steel wool); heat; GooGone; and 3M Adhesive & Wax Remover. Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? and yes, I tried the search function, but nothing matched (with an answer) to my problem.

Thnx

If you have gotten all the old foam off then isn't that all you need to get off? I had a friend redo the headliner in my s-10 and all we did was rip old fabric off then used a 3m roloc abrasive pad(red in color) and used my little die grinder and removed the foam. Then we used 3m super 77 spray adhesive and installed new material. Worked greated, looks great and its been working for over a year now.
Hope that will help some.

Use a wire bristle brush chucked in a drill (fast way) or a hand held wire brush (slow way) to knock the old foam off and youre done. You dont need to get the old glue off as thats not what fails anyways just the old foam backing. Once youve knocked whats left of the old foam off apply your adhesive, install headliner material, and youre done.

Ive done a half dozen or so headliners that way and havent had a problem with any of them yet.
