The other night I flipped on my headlights and noticed smoke coming from the light switch, figured the switch was faulty so I replaced it but the new one does the same thing. Any ideas what to chase?
I don't know the exact wiring but if it's not blowing a fuse then I'd examine the connector. Maybe remove the wires from the connector and install them individually? Can't tell if that would work without looking. I'll look at my manual later today and see if I can see anything.
You dont happen to have any gauges using same circuit do you? Gauge pod, amplifier acc, etc? Take a test light and check for ground and 12V on the harness going into switch.
Thanks for the tips guys. I had a alarm system installed over 2 years ago and one wire was soldered to the wire for the parking lights. I've never had any issues with the alarm, and that is the only aftermarket part installed.
