i know there has been a lot of talk about headers, has anyone done any dyno testing with stock vs say atrs etc?i know many people have gone into the 10s with stockers any feedback? Are they worth the money and some minor problems that come along with them? And are those gains worth the money they cost?

Re: headers? or stockers?

I just cracked passenger side stocker during installation last thursday....Fortunately I had a spare....This spare is my last attempt to deal with stock manifolds....If another one cracks, I'm going custom....Why anyone would design cast manifolds that need to be stretched to install, is beyond me....

The GN's and TTA's had it right WTF happen to our trucks.....GM would have pob done a damn good job and save us the BS of trying, prying, beating and banging headers in place

Re: headers? or stockers?

Well with the recent absent of companys making bolt on headers for our trucks, id say either full custom or stick with the stock manifolds.

Also if your looking for all out performance, as fast as you can make the truck go, then yes you will need some type of header system.

But if your only looking for mid to low 11's and maybe an occasional high 10 then the stock manifolds, ported and ceramic coated will do you just fine, and as long as you dont get over jealous with the spreader they wont crack on you.

I say go stockers with Swain coating...

After considering custom - way too expensive for me considering without them I already have $9k into my new motor combo

After looking for ATR's and not finding any used & hearing about basically having to reweld them because of quality.

I know of a current SyTY parts supplier that is in the begining stages of enginering a header set up for the SyTY community.;) Hopefully it will be up and running by mid summer.

I will be very interested as long as we arent talking $2k for em.

Like I said it is in the very begining stages so...but I would highly, highly doubt a $2k price tag. Be on the look out for Special GP on them in around Sept 2006. I know he hopes to have them on a truck at the 2006 SyTy nationals. Along with a new A2A Intercooler setup that will be inovative and support big HP (say 700+)!!

New A2A too... I guess I can use this as an excuse for not finishing my Sy until the end of the summer... jk

Re: headers? or stockers?

ATR's are a waste of money. I had them, then sold 'em. $1000 better spent on another part of the truck. Nolan's 10.79 @123.9 on stockers is proof enough.

Re: headers? or stockers?

can't you put our stock manifolds in the oven for a few minutes to heat them up and let them expand? i have the special tool for installing them, just doesn't work on the 2-4 and 3-5.

Re: headers? or stockers?

well i think on my build headers are gonna make some decent gains, the problem is no one has ever dynoed and got solid test numbers, but im guessing at least 30 hp
