Hardwiring intercooler question!!

I cut the yellow wire on the relay on the firewall, ran the wire into the cab, and hooked it to a lighted toggle swith then spliced that into my stereo power and ground. I can't tell if it's pumping, what should I look for? Will the gray casing above the turbo be cool? HELP!!!

The yellow wire from the relay needs to be grounded. If you run it to the cab, one side of the switch should be hooked up to the yellow wire, and the other side grounded.

You can tell that it is running by taking the cap off the upper i/c and you should see liquid moving. If you don't, you might have a blown fuse. look for one attached behind the alternator.

If that's not it, then you may need to check for power to the ic pump using a test meter.

if you turn the key on but dont start the truck you will hear the pump going if you have it wired correctly. I just took one of the connectors that snaps onto an existing wire (the connecter has an opening for a blade type connecter to fit into it) and then grounded it to the firewall using a screw from the bracket right there.

ok, fuse was blown, we replaced it...but nothing happened...I didn't see any liquid moving and couldn't hear a pump. I have a test meter but I'm not sure where to put it to check the power to the I/C pump. Electric stuff just aint my thing!!

I ran it in to the cab and put it to one wire on a toggle switch and ran the other wire on the switch to the ground behind my stereo. I'm going to try just grounding it in the engine compartment...Any other suggestions?

ok dumb question. With the yellow wire, do I cut that completely or just splice into it and ground the piece I spliced in??????

disconnect your switch. ground the yellow wire in the engine bay somewhere close IE use one of the screws from the bracket that holds the mess of wires on the firewall. turn the key to the on position dont start the truck and you should hear it running....splice into it!!

splice into it....and the stocker IC pump will not always allow you to see the coolant move, its crap i think...you should hear it with key turned as someone mentioned.
