Re: Good black wax

I use Zymol wax. Works really nice. I also use the new turtle wax spray wax detailer for black paint. It also works really nice! I use it on my Black Trailblazer SS and my Syclone. Im thinking of ordering their black box kit made for black paint.

Re: Good black wax

I am really impressed with the Turtle Was Black Box. I used it on the sy last year and it looked way better than the normal meguiars stuff I had been using. Im going to do my CTS-V (also black) with it as soon as the weather gets a little warmer.

Re: Good black wax

Poke around, I've never seen it retail, I go to a specialty shop, and find some stuff called "Midnight Special." I've never seen anything like it nor have I seen the truck look this good. Easy to apply and wipe off. Nothing else needed.

My roof was going gray if ya know what I mean. Now it's as black and shiny as the rest of the truck.

Re: Good black wax

I use 3M imperial hand glaze prior to waxing. Stuff works amazing for raking out swirls and oxidation. I've even had really good luck with 3M waxes. I've had a few black vehicles in my day and they're a pain to keep clean so I've tried everything!

Re: Good black wax

Meguiars makes some great products, not the cheapest but it works.

We use all Meguiars stuff @ tomarguedesign.com

Try the meguiars 21 product, need to purchase @ a paint supply warehouse, walmart and auto parts stores do not have it?

+1 on the 3M. I've tried pretty much everything over the years. I always come back to 3M

Re: Good black wax

Depends on what you're looking for, I guess.

The meguiars NXT is pretty good easy-apply single-bottle wax.

The zaino stuff is good too, but I think it's too much of a PITA. And $$$.
I've done Meguiars body scrub followed by the zaino stuff with really good results.

3M, as others have said, has some really good stuff too.

Re: Good black wax

Here's my hood with Midnight Special. What you see is a reflection of a tree, obviously, and the clouds in the sky. I'm truly impressed with this stuff. And the ease of application. Up close, since we're talking original paint, there are some small chips. Easy on easy off was nice but what sold me was the results.

Besides here I've heard good thing about 3M. Will prolly try that on a couple of scratches. I have access to a wheel but have never used one so hesitate to go there.

Interesting thread. Some great looking trucks out there.

Re: Good black wax

I love the results from Meguiars (the 3 step system....cleaner,wax,polish) but the only thing I don't like is it will take you a long time to apply the 3 different applications AAANNNDDD it doesn't last long especially if you get caught in the rain or if its in the sun for about a week....

What I have found that works for me amazingly has been the Eagle One Nano Wax,the downside is that its no longer in stores, but I have found it at NAPA stores. Eagle one. Came out with nano wax then Meguiars did,I'm not sure why eagle one dropped it but,I have a few pics of it on my Facebook photos, check it out. I haven't tried the Meguiars brand but the eagle one goes on too easy,it lasts longer than Zymol,Meguiars, colonite insulator wax, turtle, blue magic, and the rest! The more you use it the better your results, but I do recommend applying a cleaner first and then the nano wax,it will give you unbelievable results no matter the condition of your paint!

Sorry,I'm posting this from my phone,I can't post a pic on here from the phone, flip through the pics and you should see it.

Re: Good black wax

I like Mother's California Gold Carnuba Cleaner Wax,followed by Meguire's Swirl Remover on
the factory paint.

Meguire's Machine Glaze is the ultimate plastic polish.Makes abs mirrors and lenses look brand new.

Right,Rodney?

Is your SS the metallic black, or just the regular black?

Re: Good black wax

Am I more f'd up than what I know I am or did this tread originally start out with the question being asked about a freshly painted truck?
