fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

like it says :
where is the best (savest) place to mount it ?

directly an the stock fuel-rail - or will it break ? - whos got experiances ...
... please share !

if - where to get those pillar-gauges, senders ? are they worthy ?
or is a gauge near the engine the way to go ... ?

TIA, pat.

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

Personally I wouldn't mount a guage permanently on the stock rails. I've seen fuelrails on other cars crack because guages.
For constant overview of the fp in the car the elec.fp guages with senders are expensive, in my point of view.
Just a 6 did a budget thing. Mecanic fp guage mounted in one of these guages holders you place in the car. He mounted that on the hood and watched the guage thru the windshield. Not the best "guage-thief" placement thou.

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

Use an isolator and mount the guage in the truck. It's a diaphram that keeps the fuel under the hood and uses atnifreeze to convey the pressure to the guage. I'd give you mine but it's already spoken for...

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

I also have heard some people eventually breaking or cracking there fuel rails when mounting a fp gauge on the rail.. I mounted one on my truck and had it there for two years without issue.. I removed it in favor of an electronic digital one mounted inside the truck so I can see my fuel pressure at all times.. so i'd say save your money and pickup an electric one or if money's tight do what the guys above suggested and pickup a mech one but get the insolator.

check out where I mounted my Aeromotive unit...

I made a small bracket and mounted all that to the brake booster. It isn't going anywhere.

That's awsome but you have custom fuel rails etc.. are you suggesting to mount the fp gauge else where under the hood besides the service port on the frame rail??

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

I mounted mine on the fuel rail this spring and I haven't had any problems yet, however I can see the advantage in having it in the pillar, kinda hard to see your FP while your driving down the road,

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

hey guys, thx for ya input

btw. : whats an insulator ???

and - where is a elec. FPgauge exactly plugged in ??? means where is the sender ???

TIA, pat.

ISOLATOR is a device that keeps you from running pressurized fuel into the cab of your truck to feed the guage. Sounds silly until you think about having a wreck where the line comes off of the guage and the pump keeps running. Then you would have a fire for a floorboard.

The one pictured is on my truck and is not hooked up. You would normally have a line run from the fuel rail to the isolator.

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

oh i see, thx for the pic :shocked!:
btw. nice BFB (big fawkin blower) !!!

:rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

it seems like i have to start saving up for the e-gauge, aye *gg*

but one question unanswered: where do i have to hook the elec.gauge up, got pics - maybe :popcorn2: ???

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

I would attempt to find an inline fitting so the the weight of the sensor wouldn't be on the fuel rail and also you wouldn't have to modify the fuel system in any way. I don't know if such a fitting even exists, but it should.:2cents:

(EDIT: I get that alot on the blower. :p That's why I'm keeping it:tup: )

I have my ugly sensor mounted to my fuel rail for the electronic gauge but plan to use this from rpm sooner or later http://www.raceprovenmotors.com/cart/product_info.php?cPath=21_143&products_id=383

so I'd suggest going with this when you figure out what gauge your using etc..

I think that is the same line that is susposed to be on my truck.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

already knew that item - but can i relocate to the pillar or relocate from fuelrail to anywere else in the enginebay ???
... and is there kinda "insulator" included ( pic on HP too small ) ???

if you have a electrical feulgauge/ electric pressure sending unit you can.
if you have a mechanical gauge,....i wouldn't want to run that inside a cab.

Re: fuel pressure-gauge : where mount ?

aaahh, hi bezerk nice to hear from you :flash:

you can tell me for sure where the sening-unit of an elec.FP-gauge is mounted, aye ? (... also to fuelrail ?)

where can i purchase such a goodie ?

TIA, pat.

a SyTy doesn't have a feulpressure sending unit build into it, it's just an aftermarket gauge we want to monitor our trucks.

it's like a oilpressure gauge. you have the sender than converts the mechanical value to an electric signal than you have a cable, than you get a gauge that converts the electric signal to an analog signal for us toi read.

what kind of Feulpressure gauge do you have? brand/ PN#?

finally, thats what i already knew ...
... got no FP-gauge yet, wanna check out what will be the best deal for me ;)

thats why i need to know how to get an elec-gauge workie ...
... is it right that the sending unit is mounted onto the fuelrail, or else ?

yes, there is a nipple on the driversside feulrail, with a shredder valve, you have to take the shredder valve out, put the sensor on the nipple.
but the weight might crack the feulrail, so people add braided hoses to relocate the sensor so there is less stress on the rail.
