Re: fpr

i get so damn fed up with the fuel systems on these trucks. every time i have to pull it apart for something i end up with more trouble than when i started. and what's even worse is this time i changed the fpr because my new fp guage said it was too high. the second time i used the guage it wouldn't zero out so i don't know if i even needed to change the fpr. i have just about had my limit with the local sears store

Re: fpr

it should just push in (I just pushed in in till it 'clicked' into place)...that how mine went in. Check to make sure its not leaking from the fuel line at the bottom of the fpr. Good luck.

Umm.., why not buy an AFPR?

actually it i hadn't had to go out and get stuffs for my baby boy i would have, but with the new baby it wasn't in the budget. if i had the money i'd just replace the entire set up with braided fuel line from the tank forward, billet fuel rails and a afpr. but i probably won't be able to afford that until tax time and my poor ole ty is my dd....

well this seems to be the key point cause i took the fpr back and looked at a new one with the o-ring and turns out the ones they sold me were too big. i think i've been working outside in the cold too long. i appriciate all the input and it should help me get it in quicker.

I have one rule. NEVER install an o-ring dry. Even if I gotta spit on that thing it ain't going in dry. Really, on my AFPR a little lube oil was my trick. My reasoning was it's soluble in gas and wouldn't cause a prob somewhere. Having the corect size does help though.:)

Re: fpr

well it's done, o-ring was too big, and i hosed it down good with some wd40 and it slid in and i tightend it down with the allen bolts. i really need to quit letting that one guy at the store help me. seems like every time i let him help me it always ends up with me having to go back and get the right thing

Re: fpr

Certainly having the correct sized o-ring is a must but Bruce called me last night with a similar problem on his injector swap....he tried installing with lube and nothing worked....I believe the cold had something to do with this...he was working in a 30f garage....I told him to try putting the o-rings in the microwave for a few seconds, relube them and he said it worked!! just a thought....most rubber or silicone based things tend to get harder in the cold...oh and as far as replacing the lines with braided and billet fuel rails, you won't see any performance gains and that will likely cost you big bucks....stick to the reliability maintainence and you'll be fine....Man, I wish o-rings were my syty problems....I just installed my modded motor for the third time and I hear a valvetrain related noise that is impossible to trace down....only one hour of idle run time...I had someone build it for me this time around...you know what he told me to do when he came over to hear it? "Pull the engine and bring it to me"....nice....guess I have my day cut out for me again....

Not to hijack this thread but I'm curious...

Is this the only way he'll stand behind his work? I'm also somewhat surprised that you can't at least come close to finding the noise.
