wide tires + no power steering = massive arms from fighting steering wheel

no experience with it on these trucks but i've had one of two of my previous mustangs and loved them.. ton's of weight savings, no power steering pully and lines to leak/break etc

but on topic I believe Ed Hess has had manual steering for along time now

i have installed a few of these.. works great! You just need the pitman arm for the S10 which has the taper for the steering arm.

i disagree w/ the tons of weight savings. the manual box is just as heavy as the hydraulic one. you just get to remove the resevoir and tubing, which doesn't weigh that much.

I thought it shaved a bunch of weight off the front of my fox mustangs.. it was the hyd rack, ps pump, and tubing which does add up. I never weight anything since I don't have a good digital scale but apposed to the manual rack it was worth the time/money to me

*edit*

just called my little brother who currently has a fox and did the swap himself.. he said his ps rack, pump, lines with fluid accounted for 38lbs... the flaming river quick ratio manual rack he swapped in weighted in at 11lbs

well a steering rack is a hell of a lot lighter than a steering box...thats for damn sure. But he was referring to the flaming box, not rack.

there is not direct bolt on rack for our trucks yet, but some people are using them or intending on it - which i love to see personally. I think the racks are just nicer and way lower profile.

Re: Flaming River Manual Steering anybody???

definitely not a huge weight savings, but it allows you to get rid of the alternator bracket, powersteering pump and all the lines. For drag applications it helps relocate accessories (if needed or add ones like a fuelpump, vacuum pump, oil pump, etc) and run large exhaust crossovers on single turbo applications.

If you have wondering issues,,,there is probably some worn parts in your front end,or you need to take it to an alignment shop.

I am in need of an alignment....but,
I guess you don't have 9.5" wide tires up front.
I have replaced everything but the bolts and the relay rod.
