hey everyone i got my ty a few weeks ago, but sadly i cant even drive it yet! now not for the reasons im seeing on here but because im deployed (home in a month though!) and i have been constantly reading through these threads learning as much as i can, i really cant wait. im trying to figure out how to post pics up, but as soon as i figure it out i will!

But my ty is (correct me if im wrong) Garnet Red/Grey completly stock with 77,xxx miles on it, and i think i got a steal for 9,500, already had to replace the turbo oil hose, or something like that, but other than that its a great truck!

i really look forward to the advise i can get on here!

Re: Finally!

Congratulations. Yes, that is a 'Garnet'. Welcome aboard. I can see why you can't wait to get home. And I'm NOT talking about the Ty.;)

ahaha yeah you should have seen her before the baby lol (wow that sounds bad! but i mean it in the best possible way), and thank you i have been wondering if that is garnet, but im just not sure if i want to repaint it or not... i mean my favorite color is yellow... but it just looks so clean!

Theres a bit more than 10, but yes, its falls into one of the more rare colors. It's your truck, but I wouldnt suggest painting it. Garnets are few and far between...especially stock ones like you have.

Re: Finally!

thats another issue im beating myself up over... to keep it bone stock (except for boost gauge im going to install because of worthless stock one) or to upgrade. i know i want a great tune because once im back in yuma, az i can get race fuel out of one of the gas stations and plan on running that full time for a healthier engine(or am i wrong thinking that too?)

Re: Finally!

slap on a 20g turbo (appears stock to unknowing individuals), upgrade the fuel pump to a walbro 255 (your gonna have to anyhow), throw on a AFPR, do up all the ignition with good wires/cap/rotor/plugs, get some chip tuning done and a wideband 02 and you can run mid to high 12s all day long on pump gas.

Everything there is bolt on and you can easily go back to stock.

Re: Finally!

I'm guessing that the 2nd windshield wiper on the pass side isn't going to work very well.. ;)

Nice truck !!

Re: Finally!

awsome what is an AFPR? i planned on the fuel pump and ignition stuff, but is the fuel pump external? there is a "speed shop" im ganna be hanging out alot at in yuma that ill get chip tuning done on, but i think i can get 103 or 108 octane fuel out of a pump in yuma

Re: Finally!

Truck looks good, I wouldn't mind having a Garnet, would match my Blazer better :D . Get home safe and thank you for your service.

Yeah, forgot about that. With an upgraded CHIP you need a 3 bar MAP sensor to be able to go beyond stock boost.

Be cautious running race gas. It will eat catalytics and stock o2 sensors.....plus, it'll mask any knock issues. which, I fully forgot....you need to get a laptop with datamaster software so you can run diagnostics. You will never get your truck running 100% without it.

An alternative to race gas is using xylene. There are plenty of threads on it here. Mixed in the right ratio with some marvel mystery oil, you can get 99-100 octane for reasonably cheap.

Re: Finally!

wow i really appriciate all of the info thank you much. ok so dont run race fuel all the time, upgrade bolt ons, and get datamaster, seems easy enough haha.... i just hope it lasts for a while till i get my colt up and running!

Best way to achieve that....dont touch the Ty until it runs. Put gas in it, change the oil, and keep out of WOT all the time when driving.

DaveP's truck is an example of the reliability these truck can have. He just got done driving from Cali to FL and back in his Ty

well i dont know if i can wait that long haha, but i have a long trip in the truck planned... hoping i can buy a truck to haul the TY to yuma from idaho so i dont have to put so many miles on it... found a few but dont know if i can afford a 4th vehicle to include the wifes saturn.
