Fiberglass leaf springs(split)

Ever seen Leaf springs split apart?

Me and Keith (phoonerorlater) went to RBmotoring on Sunday to help Sean Morris work on the Sy. As we lifted the Sy off the ground, we could hear this weird crackling sound. As we lifted it higher, We also noticed the rear wheels and rear end sagging. Well, Heres the pictures

Bummer, I got em under my Syclone and check them for major cracks every so often. I think after alot of launch's they're probably bound to break. Im going to be adding caltrac's soon to lessen the stress on them when they twist on launchs. In that Syclone's application it doesnt look like the factory wedge's where used in between the axle and leaf. Anyway good luck with replacing them. Nice looking Sy that is definitly a cool color.

It was really cool.......

The Sy had been sitting for a couple years ,with some weight it in the back . Couple blocks / transmission.


Took all the stuff out of the back , loaded it up on the lift , and then the springs broke...


Had to put some springs I had laying around in it . I think they are Ty springs . The cladding sits 6 1/2 inches off the tire. It used to be an inch or two.

Will be interesting.

now you just need some Crager SS mag wheels and some white outline BFG's and you'll be all set.

Are you sure about that? I believe there have been more issues with caltracs and 'glass springs than without caltracs. I also believe adding caltrcs will void the warranty on the springs, if you're concerned about that.

Nice looking Sy that is definitly a cool color.

Odd; Mine sat up on a lift for several weeks while the engine was out. After it was finished, one fiberglass spring was split like that. It was fine before going on the lift and split after it came down. The lift was on the frame and not the spring or axle.
