I replaced the radiator(leaking for sure), themostat, waterpump, hoses etc on my 99' C2500 but it's still leaking about 1 gallon of coolant every 2 weeks when sitting in my driveway.

Looks like the whole block is wet especially in the front near the crank pulley. Oil looks fine and truck can pull my car+trailer @ 65mph all day and never exceed 195 degs.

Wondering if the DexCrap coolant ate my upper and/or lower intake manifold gaskets which is apparently common on the 5.7 Vortec in my 99' ?

Apparently the replacement Felpro set is only ~ $60 but looks like a fair bit of work, although I'm guessing only a half dozen of you reading this have torn a 4.3 or 5.7 down this far :)

Been there hundreds of times with the 5.7 vortec. Definately get it fixed asap. As easy as the coolant leaks out, it can also leak in. One of the main reasons dexcool is used now is for when you have a leak go internal it wont kill the bearings. The only times ive seen dexcool cause problems is when it is ran low it turns to "crust" so dont run it low. Its funny because they advertize 5yrs or 150K between service intervals with dexcool. Ive only seen a couple gm vehicles go that long that didnt lose a radiator/water pump/intake before then. So 99% of them never get the full life out of the coolant.

I did the intake gaskets on my '01 Blazer 4.3 Vortec. It was a breeze. Go ahead and do it. I suggest removing the fuel lines at the firewall. It makes things much easier. If you do remove them from the upper intake, you'll probably need to loosen them just a tad at the firewall to get them back into those two holes. Be sure to mark the rotor and distributor before you pull it. I didn't but luckily I didn't have any problems getting it back in correctly. HTH's

I could save my rear brake conversion for miami. might a cool how to for anyone else that might want to do it.

I have a rear set of ls1 brakes.. If I don't get em on before then. I should have the cladding painted by then too (crossing fingers)

Hey Gents, I hope you guys have a great time at Gary's! Unfortunately I won't be making it this year, so I'd like to put my request in early for next year, can we please have the meet the previous week? I attend the 24hrs of Daytona religiously ever year. This event two years ago was the last time I drove my truck.

Eric, I added you to my list. Al, the reason we do that weekend is it's the off weekend between the NFL Championships and the Superbowl. We used to do it between Thanksgiving and Xmas but it was just too hectic.

Gary count me in for the meet I'll probably be there on Sunday the reason for that is that I'm finishing my Ty I'm installing the rack/pinion .i almost have it done . if you need my e-mail let me know. if you need for me to take anything then let me know hope to see everybody there . ....



the only replacement for displacement is force induction and lot of it........
