Engine problems, Sudden lose of power

I'm a proud owner of a 91 Syclone.I know nothing about them but i'm learning. If you could help that would be great. The truck has a funny miss under full throttle. It just falls on it's face for a split secound then picks right back up. It only happens when it gets to full boost. Is there like a boost controll or cut off? It's stock no mods.

Thanks,

Yes there is a boost cutoff.Does your "check engine" light come on when this happens? I'd imagine it's either hitting the boost cutoff or the rev limiter.Does the tranny shift correctly?

How long have you had it & what have you done to it?? (Example Tune Up ETC.)

At what speed does it do it? How much gas is in the Tank?

as they said most likely overboost or rev limiter. If someone has rebuilt the trans and screwed it up as most do you might be hitting the rev limiter.

Take a look at the wastegate hoses and make very sure that they are not cracked. There should be one from the compressor to the solenoid and one from the soloenoid to the actuator. Also you will notice that there is a nipple on the solenoid that does not have anything hooked to it. That is normal it originally had a filter on it.

Once you have verified the hoses unplug the connector from the solenoid this will put the truck at base boost of around 10 psi.
Pay attention to the bost gauge and make sure it isn't overboosting and note the RPM at which it cuts out.

If you had a datalog of this I could tell you in a sec.

thanks for the help. The problem turned out to be the fuel gauge is reading wrong. It showed better than a 1/4 tank, but realy it was empty. So I fueled up and she runs good!

Might want to really change the filter now, after running it dry, you probably picked up any crap that had settled into the bottom of the tank.

yep.. i read your first post, and was thinking the same thing. guess i'm a tad late responding. This is a common problem on the sytys. Dont race with less then 1/4 tank.
