Hi everyone...

I'm new to the SyTy.net community. Always been a great fan of the SyTy's since I was in high school (class of 92). Now that I had a chance to own one I jumped at it...maybe a little too soon. Long story short; I traded for a Syclone (#2556) with a guarantee that it ran fine but had been in storage for two years (warning sign). It arrived to me cranking but not firing. I made sure I had fuel, air, spark then checked compression (oh no)!!! No compression.

Since I had to pull the engine (its out) and it will be rebuilt this week I need your advice on the proper decorum for an engine rebuild...aesthetically as well as quality parts to be used. This truck deserves the proper treatment.

I have two questions:

Engine Block Color: I was wondering if anyone would like to chime in on the proper/appropriate engine block color for a rebuilt Syclone would be?

Engine rebuild: The engine is out of the bay and is ready for a complete rebuild. What are the best parts to put into it (budget vs. performance)?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Markus

Congrats on the truck. Post up some pics in the "projects" section so we can all see the progress. We are easily amused and pictures make it simple.

good luck and welcome:tup:

Re: Engine color and quality engine rebuild parts

wow the poll is cool...thx for the input everyone.

OK I will go black for the engine block.

I have a quote for OEM parts for the rebuild. Any suggestions to stay away from certain OEM parts?

I found an old post (http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?p=801636#post801636) from the previous owner that some of the members showed a concern for the replaced transmission not having being the proper replacement. Any ideas how I can check?

Best regards,

Markus

Orange wouldn't look right, they stopped using it a long time ago. As far as parts go, if you have the chance to upgrade, go for it. Talk to a good builder who specializes in these trucks and they'll help you get exactly what you want.

@ fabricator

That orange sure does pop but survey says...15 to 5 in favor of black :)
