Okay I've seen that some of you have done it but I want to know why. I don't understand the purpose of doing this. Does it give you more hp? make your ride smoother? I seriously don't know.

If there is some sort of performance enchancement gain in doing this would that also apply to the SGT motor as well?

Re: EGR Block off, why do it?

If I pull mine off but leave the electronic part I am still gunna set a code correct on the stock chip

I was just gunna plug the vacuum line but I think that will still set a code not for sure which one but check engine just bugs the crap out of me

You can cap off the egr and drive her... some set codes and some don't. Mine wouldn't but I my idle got a little worse until I had the egr disabled in the chip.

and whenever my egr would come on i'd see as much as a 40 temp increase in datamaster which prompted me to yank that sucker

are the codes hard? meaning even if I put it back on my check engine light is still on?

If your truck is one that doesn't agree with you deleting the egr on a stock chip you'll get a studder and a check engine light during cruise of and on.. the light goes away when you stop cruising. The egr pops on when your at a steedy speed limit to recirculate spent fuel back into the intake track. If you just blast around town i'd think you'd be fine but like I said simply cap off the vacuum port on the egr and drive around that'll tell you how bad your truck dis likes it or not before you go through the process of unbolting the egr and bolting in the block off plate.

and to clear any codes you simply pull the ecm b fuse for a few minutes or unhook the battery for a few
