Does owning a Sy/Ty make you a snobb?

So, I'm driving down the road on my way home from work and I see a black S-10 with what apears to be ground efects wating to pull out- wait a sec, thats a freaking Syclone. So the guy pulls out, and I slow down to let him catch up so I can get a good look at his truck, and maby race him. As soon as he gets even with me he gives me dirty look and starts to get over so he can turn into a Groceri store- I naturaly give him the thumbs up for owning a bad ass truck, and once of my dream vehicals, and the bastard just looks away like he is too good to wave back.

Don't you just hate it when people are too good to give you props back? I mean, I didn't see any guages or anything non stock on the sy, and I'm damm well sure I can out run a stock sy, but this guy acted like I was just some punk ricer in a civic. What gives?

I honestly get tired of all the v8 pickups trying to race my Sy. I sometimes look down at them, when I am having a long day.

i'll go ahead and put my 2 cents in....

i own two rare trucks. i busted ass to get them and keep them in the upmost perfect condition all the times....

i dont own some Sonoma or Jimmy, but rather 2 trucks that a good portion of the world havent a clue what they are or what they can do.

I consider me, my wife, and all the other owners on this board part of a small but elite group of people who are lucky enough to enjoy these pieces of truck history.

If you take that as being a snob, then your damn right im standing in the front of that line representing SYTY.

Stab it and steer it
So I'm just drivin along an all I get is looks of admiration and "what the heck is that?"

I -like- tellin folks I own piece of history that does somthin besides change tune when you step on it.

If that makes me snob then so be it.... but I don't think so.

Maybe the other guy was just havin a bad day.

hated cuz he drives fords
I would only act like that if you were a punk ass bitch looking hard at me like most ricers do... then I'd prob cut you off or something.. and wish death on you!

only thing I don't like about owning a sy is when idiots that don't know jack about cars think or ask if thats what extremes used to look like :2gunfire:

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as some typical ricer- I was just trying to give this guy props, and he acted like I wasn't worth his time.
Theres a reson I'm on this board, and its bacuse I love sy/tys and if I coudl afford one, I would have one- but the ones I want(ones with low miles) are out of my price range.

My talon has quite a bit done to it, and runs 13.9's @97 at 4800 ft above sea level (and pulls 1.81 sec 60' times with a good powerbreak launch). I've driven both a stock ty, and a stock sy(it had a k&n) and neither felt as fast as my car- I also manged to put 6-7 car lengths on a ty for a roll, the ty had exaust and a chip. I still would trade my car for a nice low miles ty in a hart beat(plus my left nut)

It just irated me that this guy a a nice looking syclone that I wanted to give the the good old thumbs up for, he saw me do it- and just looked away. I know damm well when people give me props for my car I try to give them a wave back or somthing.

Man if I were you I would stop digging. I know of a lot of Stock Ty's that would cream your talons twinkie.

Ty's are slow from a roll, stock.

I'm not trying to get in a pissing match here- my cars not fast and I know it, but neither are bone stock sy/ty's. You act like awd a/t dsm's are great at going from a roll- there not, in fact the only thing my car would have over a sy/ty is coefficent of drag- we have proably the same drive train losses and other factors- I figure my car weighs about the same as a sy. are you saying that that there are alot of stock ty's could take me from a stop? beacuse I don't see too many stock ty's pulling much faster 60' times than my 1.81's

your kidding right?

you must not pay very good attention on this board if you think 1.8s is uncommon for us....

Hey... just something to think about... SyTy's feel "weird" compared to a lot of other performance cars. Partly it's the AWD, but a bigger part of it is the front to back weight ratio and how it transfers that weight.

Case in point, my TTA is easily a second faster in the 1/4 than my Ty would be. However, the Ty feels faster thanks to a quicker spooling turbo and lower torque peak.

Yeah, I know the the DSM cars feel like as well, thanks to a roomate and friends with varioud TSi's, GSX's, VR4's, and even the odd Turbo Mirage.

And this was in a bone stock sy with normal(ie not drag radials) 245/50 16's and stock suspension? I've see a few sys go 1.69's with a tie strap, but that dosen't seem to be the "norm" I see plenty of 1.8's and 1.9's posted all over here. It seems to me that the sy/ty's need some suspension modds to keep those front tires planted and get realy good 60' times. I didn't say that 1.8's were uncommon, but most of the time on here it seems that people forget that there are other awd cars out there, capable of pulling off the same insane launches you guys do- is 1/10 of a second that big off a differnce in the launch? I could see if I was talking about some pos honduh pulling a 2.5 sec 60' time.

Sorry about your experience. Anytime I have found someone with a syty, we have become friends.

Even people that I had only met on syty.net...Dean, Nolan,Barb and TurboTony have gone out of their way to let me hang around their vehicles. Thanks, you guys-Hope I can repay the favor someday.

They have always turned out to be great people that respect and help out those that love the turbo trucklets.

2 years ago, I saw a Typhoon at the local carwash, and I turned the steering wheel so hard that I hit a curb and put my Blazer up on 2 wheels finally stopping 3-4 feet in front of the Ty.

After the owner cleaned his shorts, he laughed about it, as he understood my enthusiasm.
