Okay, pulled the A/C, cooling system, and everything off of the front of my motor, in prep to remove the whole thing this week. Well was looking at what all could go to free up space, and started to think. Has anyone put a radiator up in the core support where the ac condensor went? I found a alum grifin from summit for under 200 that i was thinking about having the filler removed and putting a remote filler neck on. has anyone tried this with a smaller radiator mounted in the condensor space? i'm thinking it'll seriously open the engine bay up giving plenty of room for any type of turbo inlet piping, and will be directly behind the grill allowing it to have plenty of fresh air and with the two electric fans i have now keeping it cool shouldn't be a problem

theres the link to it, it already has the correct inlets/outlets on it, and is almost a perfect fit. the opening is 3.5 inches deep, 31inches wide, and 15.75 inches high. I was also thinking of having the end tanks completly repaced with a simple alum box insted of the formed end caps that are there just to make it a cleaner install.

i have 2 electric fans a 10 inch and a 14 on a stock 99 s10 radiator and the truck never runs over 160 with my built motor

I know a few people that have gone to Griffin rads in different types of cars, and ended up changing again because of cooling problems. Seems to be an issue with fin density being too high for slow speed street driving. Basically everything is nice and cool on the highway, but once you slow down, the air doesn't flow through the rad easily, and you start to see higher temps.

Just my $.02 :)

It looks like you would have to lose the AC condensor for that radiator to fit as intended right?

You can have it made any way you want.
Mine has the drain petcock.
You have to make sure that you tell them the correct heater outlet location, otherwise they'll configure it as a std. S10.

they say it works with a condenser. i wont be using one though so i cant tell you

I'm ditching the A/C and had already pulled the cooler and thats what gave me the idea. had cleaned up for the night and was standin around talkin with my friend that is renting the garage with me and it just kinda hit me, Hell, if i could get a rad to fit into the condenser spot, that'd clean it up hella lot more.
That V8 conversion rad is nice, buts kinda pricey, but i don't need the trans cooler lines in there so that'll probably bring it down some. I'd like to run a remote water pump, and if i can Find one used, a dry belt drive for the cam and having that extra few inches infront of the motor would make it easier to change the timing.

I custom made the top bracket from aluminum and them powerder coated it i bought the radiator on Ebay for about $130.00 the fan system is from a volvo.. it took me about a week of fab no welding just used 1 inch aluminum angle and stuff from home depot. all i did was get a radiator that was 26 inch by 18 inch and made it work..
