Custom Motor Mounts

well before i got my truck we had the motor mount go out on us and we had to replace it. fun stuff. we didnt want to wait on delivery man to bring an upgraded one so we went to the parts store and got an oem replacement. well we didnt want to do the job again so we decide to manufacture a new system. what we did is drilled to hardy hole straight through the mount. we then stuck two 1/2 inch bolts thru the mount. after than we but the nuts on but the were too high so more customizing was in store. we grinded down the nuts and then welded the bolts to the nuts. after that the daunting task of reassembly was completed and we havent had any flex thru the mount yet just gonna give my fix instead of buying high dollar parts. we also custom made a cai useing 2.5 inch pipe bent at our exhaust shop and polised in the garage total cost 4 dollars. looks almost identical to the ones that sell for 145.

Re: Custom Motor Mounts

that's a real old trick, running a high grade bolt through the mount(rubber and metal) leaving a little spaxce on either end and using double nuts to lock it in place, limiting the stretching of the mount, and in theory the load on it. I did this on my Nissan prerunner, got tired of rplc'ing mounts every month or 2.
If this doesn't work for you for any reason, pm me and I can send you one of the stainless cable limiting straps I had made up for sy/tys. They have bar stock steel on either end, with just an inch or two up top where it bolts to an existing motor bolt, then an eyelet, gnarly clamp,10 or so inches of cable, then another clamp, eyelet and 8" of bar stock, with mounting holes drilled specifically for sy/tys. I don't use one anymorwe b/c of my poly mounts, but I've never heard of anyone breaking or stretching one, and morwe than a few people were totally stocked on it. Good luck,
Jeremy
