what are the different options for electric water pumps? I'm just starting to look into this also, and would like to know people's experiences with them on these trucks.

I have the csi and it seems to be working fine, have not got to drive the truck yet, but i was looking at the speedpro dashboard and watching coolant temps with the moto off and turned on the pump and it dropped 3 degrees in about 10-20 seconds, its also really quiet, cant hear it run even with the truck off. It will be nice to turn on the pump and the fans in between passes at the track , circulate the water and have the fan pulling air without it running, just need to bring a spare battery or charger with a generator, that might be getting a little extreme but these trucks are extreme anyway. :D

On the contrary, I have heard that the csi's aren't good for street driving b/c they live a short life. I have no actual experience with it, this is just what I've heard from several performance shops and friends. When I get the twin turbo blazer setup rolling, i'm gonna get the Meziere pump, which i've heard great things about. Just another pump option you might wanna consider.

People in the know have looked at me in shock when I suggested putting an electric water pump on a daily driver.

So, someone has put 20K on an electric pump...have they never had overheating difficulties?

Well I guess I know of two now.

Nope no overheating, even on an 105* Texas day. Truck is a built half ton chevy with about 600+- Hp.

One of the guys that is working on our house (we're having the kitchen remodeled) has had one on his F-body for a while. He didnt know the mileage but he said possibly over 20k. So looks like, atleast were I am, these things are holding up pretty well.

From what I gather from talking to a few poeple, local rodders. That a few years back someone put some reall low quality electric pumps out. By doing so they pretty much gave'em all a bad name. Since then technology and quality have improved substantialy. Jerry McCooy uses them on every truck in the shop. I flew out there not to long ago to talk to him about a build he will be doing over the winter. I think I will have to go out there agian in January too.

FWIW, there was a 9sec Sonoma GT running this today (CSI elec Pump) on an oddfire engine with a 200 shot of N2O.

I was there when the discussion came up about reliabilty, he said he likes it, has NO PROBLEMS with it and drives on street regularly.

Just another observation.
