Crappy day at the track

I figured I would take the Ty to the track to get a few baseline runs.

1st run - 14.44 @ 97 mph
2nd run - 14.57 @ 91 mph
3rd run - 14.41 @ 97 mph

It was pretty frustrating. On the way home, under partial throttle, the truck was stuttering/hesitating and blowing black smoke out the back.

I don't know what I got myself into with this truck.

Ok I'm an idiot. I read "fiveoh"'s thread and I think I was in a similar situation.

I could never build boost at the line, but I wasn't doing it properly.

I just took my truck out and built the boost and did a 10 lb launch - HOLY SHIT that's all I have to say.

I guess now I don't feel so bad - but I still feel like a moron. I wish I could go back to the track, but now I have to wait 2 weeks. :x


BTW - can I edit my screen name? This one sux now that I actually have a Ty.

I live in Plymouth outside of Mpls.

I raced at Rock Falls for the Sunday Fun Day - there was a Syclone there with what looked like sponsor stickers all over it. He was running mid 12s @ around 106/107.

From what I see now, I guess I was launching at 0 lbs. (First time racing the Ty)

The previous owner said this Ty is modded with K&N, 3bar chip & MAP sensor, no cats, Dynomax muffler, Walboro(?) fuel pump, 160 thermostat, hotwired IC pump. That's everything I can list at the top of my head.

I do not have datamaster - I do have a friend who wants to help me with the truck who has a lot of experience building turbo 6's.

Sounds like a full tune-up is in your future.

With stock chip I ran a 13.8 and with the 3-bar, ulitmate, drop-in K&N, stock turbo, AFPR, upgraded Walbro, I ran a 13.3......

No offense, but that truck runs fine, it needs a good driver! :lol: That was my old roommates truck. My Syclone was the one in the garage with the cover on it when you picked up the Ty. That typhoon went 13.20 two weeks before you bought it. Made tons of 13.50 passes. Unless something has dramatically changed, I don't see why it would be that much slower.
