Coolant woes

It's not a jimmy!!!!
Hello all. I dropped most of my coolant at the golf course a few weeks ago (which was representative of my round) and it is from a metal line. A hole developed in the line. The line runs from the driver side of the turbo to the bottom of the engine block on the passenger side. I have come up emtpy on searching for a replacement. Can anyone help me locate a replacement or present an alternate solution? At this point, I am considering the option of fashioning a new line. Thanks.

Re: Coolant woes

You had the turbo coolant line fail on you: #6 in the below pic, correct?

Send a PM to "BBW808", I have a line in great shape that I owe him, you could buy it directly from him and I could mail it to you if it is fine with both he and you.

Re: Coolant woes

Thanks for the reply. I will get back to you tonight or tomorrow. I believe the line I am looking for is completely steel. I think the #6 line in the picture is next to the line in question. I will get under there tonight and confirm that. Regrettably my daily driver has been disabled for the last 3 weeks so it has been a month since I looked at the Typhoon. Thank goodness for warranties!

Re: Coolant woes

None of the lines going to / from the turbo are truly solid steel. The oil feed (#1 in first pic) is braided stainless and mounts to the top of the turbo, the oil drain (#4-12) in first pic) is a metal flange that turns to rubber, the back to metal, The coolant feed (#6 in original pic) is steel, the turns to orange rubber at the bottom before threading into the block, and the coolant return (#1,2,3 & 8 in original pic) is steel before going to rubber and attaching to a nipple on the front of the intake manifold. Some other pics for your viewing pleasure.

Re: Coolant woes

I have thoroughly chastised myself for not listening to you the first time. #6 is the line that has a hole in it. Right after the orange rubber where it bends up towards the turbo. I will contact BBW808 and beg for generosity for a soul sorely missing driving the Typhoon in the summer. Thanks for your help! Hopefully I can get back to finding a place to buy the vacuum tubing to begin that replacement procedure and not deal with anymore coolant leaks on my Tahoe or Typhoon!

Re: Coolant woes

I have just the part of the line that has a hole in it if you want it. you would need to attach the rubber portion of the one you have to what I have. pm me if you want it.

Re: Coolant woes

Oil is not there for cooling, it is there for lubrication. No oil and the turbo would die. Sorry, just a pet peeve.

Yes i know the oil is there for lubrication, but it also cools, as not all turbos have coolant running thu them and they last a long time, just wondering if i removed the water lines from the turbo would it make a diferance on IAT's, good or bad and would the turbo survive without the water??

Re: Coolant woes

i would suggest keeping the coolant line. my PTE60 was just oil cooled, but my new PT67dbb is water cooled. so i had e-rue at turbo time make some lines for me. should be cool. thanks for the pics adam, that was very helpful.
