compression ratio question

i was wondering what the stock comp ratio is in the ty motors and if my info is correct that a standard vortec 4.3 is 9.4:1. this being true i was just wondering how putting vortec heads on the ty motors affect them with them being turbod, i know people do it and am planning on doing it myself, just figured id ask.

well the lb4 motor that came stock was like 8.25 to 8.35. the vortec motor is suppose to be 9.4 but i think it leans more toward 9.0. so you might need to turn down the boost a little bit, add meth or maybe a good tuner can cover it. but i'm not sure what you get putting vortec heads on the lb4, i think that still ends up in the 8.xx to 1

The pistons are different - this causes the difference in compression ratio.

Stock compression ratio is 8.35:1. The heads on SyTy and non-SyTy LB4 engines are the same. As mentioned, the SyTys use lower compression pistons. Changing to Vortec heads will not affect the compression ratio, only airflow. (for the better :tup: )
