Hi i'm new, but wanted to introduce myself, and to hopefully find some answers to a project i want to do in my camaro. I'm 19 but i've rebuilt 2 motors for it now and have had 4 in my car (i'm rev happy and like drifting in ct snow LOL). I have a 1987 Chevy Camaro which I kind of like, kind of don't like. It was my first car and have spent a great deal of money on the car. I've put in new interior had almost every single piece out of the car now. I'm more into modding my 1990 Talon now, as i love turbo, and the thing is INCREDIBLE amounts faster than any of the 4 3rd gens i've had (87 camaro, 86 camaro, 86 iroc-z, and 92 RS). This is the only one I've liked because it's a 5spd. But here's some pics of it, and a link to my cardomain page, which has many more pics on. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/510769/3

i hear that. I LOVE my 90 TSi awd. amazing. i'm here for information more than anything else. I want to do a 4.3L turbo in the camaro. the reasoning for the v6 is to have more room for intercooler and piping. soooooooo my questions are going to be about getting power out of the 4.3 as well as bolting them up to a t-5 (and future t56). and since the sy/ty are the kings of power for the 4.3, i figured this would be a good place to start.

so. is it true that a 4.3 is almost identical to a 5.7? hows the bottom end in these cars and internal wise? my aim is ommishboy116, so anyone with info please im me i've got questions

This is small community, you don't need to make multiple posts asking the same question.

i see it's been deleted already, this wasn't supposed to come up here. sorry, this was supposed to be an intro thread, not a q&a area, but i guess it turned out that way.

here's what it said basically: with some reasons for why i'm doing this.

I'm looking for as much information as possible on a 4.3L compared to a 5.7L. I've been told that they are almost identical minus two pistons. I'm looking for some truth in that. My goal is a turbo 4.3L in my 87 camaro. Why a 4.3 instead of a 5.7??? space. i want to have room for the turbo, wastegate, intercooler, piping, ect. Also, This is somehting different. I've never seen one and i want to do it dammit! I'm going to be hooking this up to a t5 (v8 t5, not the one in there now as input shafts are different).

Also, is there a difference between a 4x4/awd 4.3L and a 2x4 4.3L out of a rwd s10. I'm looking to keep it rwd, burnouts are fun.

Thanks in advance for help from anyone. It's asking a lot but thanks.

You may want to try search the S-10 forums for turbo conversions. The Intake Manifolds, Turbo, Intercooler, Exhuast Manifolds, Wiring Harness and ECM are unique to SyTy. A full topend SyTy & wiring harness would be something some of could help you with, but that get expensive. The S-10 forums have cheaper (still not cheap) solutions for turbo 4.3 swaps.

the only part i'm really concerned about is the turbo manifolds. I know a lot about turbos, how they work, how they need to be setup, i just need info. you said intake is different (obviously) are the heads the same?

Re: check out this member!

wellllllllll from my research thus far, basically the biggest downfalls of this 4.3 are the fuel system, and bottom end. the s10 guys were talking major issues at about 300 whp, without really building them. also they all recommended the 2114? intake manifold to run a mpfi setup and the FAST system, which are all super expensive. If i was going to put that kind of money into a car, it'd be my talon where i know i can hit 400+ awhp on the stock bottom end. so I'll either be throwing a bunch of n2o at that 2.8L in the camaro or selling it. i don't really want to build a v8 right now, as my talon is my real fun car. Thanks for the help, someday i'd love to own me a typhoon. They are way out of my price range now though. I'll stick around, i just wanted to say i probably won't be doing this too much money away from my real project.

Re: check out this member!

You can do this for alot less money then you think. A stock 4.3L bottom end over at s10forum has gone well over 300WHP and been dailey driven for years and not fallen appart.

The fuel system isn't even that big of a deal if you want to do ALOT of the leg work yourself. I am personaly going with a megasquirt ECM thats going to run 6 65# injectors in a 2114 intake. A megasquirt 1 ECM cost like 110 for the parts and you build it, or like 200 some together, OR megasquirt 2 parts are 250 and completed its like 350 some. You could easily just run a older 95 and older 4.3 and get one of those holley intakes that either has the injector bungs and everything or has the spots t easily drill them out. i've seen those intakes go for 100 bucks on ebay, then get yourself a set of cheap injectors somewhere and you rolling.

Granted its still going to take some money by the time you get ahold of a set of syty manifolds 250-350, and just a stock 17c 100-200 bucks. But it would be pretty awesome project.
