Carbon fiber hoods by CfxBodywerks - Again!!!

Only problem is that people keep coming up with new hood ideas, or want to change the existing ones. If you put up a poll, you're going to see the same thing.

Then the hoods need to be limited to a specific number of style options . If somebody wants a different style and it's not in the poll, then they can shop elsewhere.

I have zero interest in a CF hood as I am perfectly happy with my current fiberglass one :). I manufacture tooling for a living and Kurt hit the nail right on the head... All I have to say is don't hold your breath waiting for half a dozen (or more) variations of the same CF hood to materialize. Because guess what, if one person wants a hood with [sarcastic] quad cowls, [/sarcastic] they are going to have to make a mold *just* for you. Unless you are willing to pay for the tooling costs (BIG $) associated with such a venture, it's NOT going to happen. For a GP like this to have ANY chance, there should only be one or two styles at the VERY most available.

agree, focus guys, tooling is by far the most $$ part, the parts are considerably cheaper, easier and faster to make.

Well, the hood showed up last Thursday, but the freight company DESTROYED it. The crate was all broken, and the hood was badly torn up. We had to refuse it... Luckily the guy who made it insured it with the freight company, so he's not out any money. He says a week to a week and a half, and I should have another one. I'll keep you guys posted ;)

WHAT'S THE WORD ON THIS CARBON FIBER HOOD????

WOW, I just read this whole thread and I'm more confused than when I woke up this morning :rotf:

I vote for a CF 2" hood.

Adam:
I have always wanted a CF hood for my Sy, but when I couldn't find a quality unit I bought the Harwood Steel Cowl hood as part of a two hood purchase with David Snediker.

What might these cost? I bought a 50inch high quality CF race wing and had it for awhile mounted on the tailgate of my Sy using a custom mounting surface I made and was hung from inside the bed area on the tailgate. I still have it but took it off after so much grief from everyone who saw it that I was trying to be a "Ricer Sy".

Hope to hear from you privately.

BTW, Ivanko, I just realized that I never responded to this thread about my hood. That was because the first one sent got destroyed in shipping, and the second one got cracked while at the shop getting work done to the truck. So I have a hood I am trying to repair, but am still in search of a new one. :(

I do, but it's pointless, as he refuses to work with carbon fiber anymore. I've offered him double what I paid for the first hood to make me another, and he still won't do it.

How much did he charge you for the first one...

$420 shipped. And I actually offered him upwards of $1000 to build me another one, and he just wasn't interested.
