Well I have much more garage space now and am contemplating a lift.

I am not sure if I would like a 4 post or 2 post or which brand to get... I am steering toward the superlift brand.

Anyone have one or an opinion.. why you chose or certain brand or why you chose a 2 post or 4 post.

I am thinking for nearly everything I would do.. I would like a 2 post.. because you almost always have the tires off. But a four post can be left mobile and could be useful also.

i would get a two post it is almost imposible to work on anything suspension related on a 4 post i dont know much about brands but i will look at what i got at work those have worked well with no problems for about two years

One of my friends has both and I get stuck on the 4 post most of the time,my truck sat on it for 2 months. You can do most things on it,but the 2 post would be better for our trucks,they are not that heavy and lots of room to walk around,hit my head many a times under the 4 post.

There is a third alternative...................1 post lift. If you want more space. Remember with a 2 post you can't open doors fully if the truck is on the lift. 4 post you gonna need jacks on it to be able to get wheels off the ramps, and 4 posts takes up a lot of room. Depending how much you gonna use it, if i was to buy a lift for a normal house 2 car garage i'll get a 1 post lift, it will leave room between the cars and you can always open one door all the way.

Well I have a 3 car garage with 11.5' ceilings... they have a 2 post lift that is an off set of Asymmetrical lift.. so you can open the doors. The one thing that I did like about 4 post.. is that you can move it. . it would physically be able to be rolled out of the garage if you really needed to... the 2 post is the way I am steering.. just for overall working on the truck purposes/

I run a DoublePark lift in my garage, and will be installing two more in my shop next year when it's done. You can check them out at http://www.doublepark.net/. They work awesome for working on vehicles...just get the jack bridge option. Way better than an asymetrical two post that needs to be bolted to the floor...asssuming it can be bolted to your floor.

A picture of my new Turbo T sitting up on the lift should be on my site within a week or so, assuming I finally get around to updating it. Oh and measure the vehicles to make sure 11.5' is enough room to stack SyTy's. It may not be.

no 1 post epa crawls up your azz for putting hydrolic (sp) fluid in the ground they made my shop go to all above ground we are i ca plus one of the cylinders had a leak and they said that we would have to replce it so while we were at it we did all 4 so we wouldnt have any more problems
plus you have to go through the floor of your garage to much work to beable to
open your doors on a lift

The reason why a one post lift was not considered... I don't think you would be able to swap a tranny, transfer case, etc... with that type of a lift.

just make sure you'll be able to open the garage door when the truck is up on the lift. not sure what i want to do at the new house yet, but i'm in the same boat. i'd love to get one so i can fit the lil vw under the sy, but with my luck it would come crashing down and kill both cars.

I am only planning to use the lift for service.. not for storage.

So I want the door to open but is in not critical as I am not planning on storing anything under it.

that's cool. just make sure there's nothing in the concrete pad that might get destroyed if you have to anchor it. problem i have with the new place is that all the plumbing runs through the slab in the garage. i'm just worried i'd bust through a drainage pipe installing it.

I grew up with a 1 post in ground lift.

I can say, I felt that lift was the BEST.

Yes it isn't portable, and a pain to install.

But you don't have posts to trip over.

You CAN remove trannies, transfer cases, etc. Did it several times in my ty, and probably 40 times in other cars.

Yes if you have a tranny shop, not best. But for home it is just fine. You learn to shift car forward, works well.

If you want to go cheap, put an ad in paper looking for old used center post lifts. My dad did this a couple years ago when building his new garage. Had 1 for free had to take out of ground, other was $250 ready to go which is the one he bought.

Plant hoist
Attach airline
Pour concrete
Let dry
Use.

It also becomes a very versitle adjustable height bench with the addition of a piece of plywood.

It is old skool lift, but I can say for sure what I would want for overall use, and lack of being in the damn way.
