California emissions

I'm about to close a deal on a 92 Typhoon and I'm thinking ahead to emissions testing when I finally get the truck back to CA. For those that don't know, CA runs the vehicle on a treadmill during the sniffer test. For any CA owners out there, how do they deal with the AWD? Jack up the front end?

I believe the truck is running stock chip, injectors, & turbo. I'm sure I'll have to swipe the airbox out of my 92 Blazer so I can pass the visual. Will an aftermarket fuel regulator cause me problems?

I'd appreciate any pointers so this gets through on the first run. Thanks in advance.

It depends on where you live & if they have a AWD smog tester, Where I live they just do the standard test at idle & at 2500 rpm, no dyno testing.

You need to tell them that your Typhoon is AWD & find a place without a AWD dyno to do the testing, make sure they just don't jack up the front end as some shops will try to do. That way you can get the standard testing.

Has anyone else brought one of these trucks into CA from another state? Did you get the run around from the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) or DMV?

I just moved from massachusetts to pasadena and have not had my truck tested yet I have a full msd ignition with a 6a amplifer and an adjutable regulator set at 42 lbs. It has a brand new cat and flowmaster I am more than positive the truck will pass emissions with flying colors and look at it this way if they damage your vehicle they are held totally accountable as they should know what they are dealing with right?? My truck passed fine in massachusetts as long as all your components are CARB exempt there shouldnt be no issues. My opinion is as long as there is a healthy catalytic converter on the truck it will pass smog. Visual inspection will slide 75 percent of the time. Also, I bet if you go to the appropriate locations anything can pretty much pass at least from what I have scene around pasadena...
