Bore sizes ???

I would like to know whats the bore size the peoples with bowties are running . Like hoovers , mike lee , robert from sweden, etc... etc... And what stroke etc... I need to decide which route i go . Thanx

depends on the block. some bowties can go big. others cant go any larger than stock.

I think my blocks maximum safe bore is 4.150 . So i am thinking on going with 4.125 but i would like to know if it is realy worth it on an boosted motor etc...

My personal opinion on bore is not to bore it out any more than you need to. If something happened to an already expensive block.. then you are screwed. If you leave some meat in there, you have a chance to renew it.

If you figure it out...

0.030" Over - Stock stroke - yields 266 CID
0.125" Over - Stock stroke - yields 279 CID

0.030" Over - 3.75 stroke - yields 289 CID
0.125" Over - 3.75 stroke - yields 300 CID

In my opinion, in my opinion (in case you did not see that the first time), I would only stroke the motor, not bore it.. I am sure there are 100 opinions. or if the motor can be bored to 4.125... and you are set on boring it, go 4.060 or something to leave yourself some room in case the cylinders ever got scarred or something.

As for making power.. I think the extra cubes you would loose by not going max bore can easily be overcome with more boost... :lol:

Again I don't know what the hoover's are using..but this is just my opinion.. I think the stroke is worth it.. I am sure they can go bigger stroke than that.. I don't know what the 9 second club is using by I think they are shifting at like 8000 so I would not think they are stroked any bigger than 3.75, but I could be wrong.

Shit , now you let me keep thinking on selling my new oddfire crank to buy one of those billet stroker cranks :roll: . The 3.73 stroke with 4.30 bore sounds great too to me .

Its decided , i'm getting an stroker billet crank and 4.125 bore and there is still some good meat . I would like to go wtih 2.155 but i would like to have the option to bore it later if something happens . So thats gonna be around 300 ci rigth ?

Not sure you understand how this works...

You said you wanted to leave some meat in the block and that you were going to bore it to 4.125, which is the max the block and go to, that leaves no meat in the block.

And what is 2.155?

Sory , i meant 4.155 bore . Mike told me people had gone 4.18x with these blocks . So 4.125 bore should be absolutely safe and if something happens i can bore it 0.030 over and then get 4.155 bore .
