boost gauge hookup location

This may be a really stupid question, but.....

I have deleted my egr. I just replaced the vacuum lines with a new silicone kit. Since my egr valve is deleted, I just blocked off the port that ran from the egr solenoid to the egr valve.

I was wondering if it was possible to hook up my boost gauge to that port.

I have never hooked up a boost gauge before, and I don't know if it runs off strictly vacuum or if it needs to be hooked into the manifold in order to read boost. Please pardon my ignorance.

Any help would be appreciated.

One of the guys on the list sells a blue AN fitting for the brake booster port in the IM that has alot of extra connections. I am using a fitting that PTE sells that has the correct hose barb 4 the booster hose and a side port 4 a boost/vac guage and it is a 1/8" compression fitting - which is what most boost guages come with. Not sure why anyone pays more for an electronic Boost guage.
