Blurple sy project build #301

REVEREND HARMON

Party in a box!
Well, i have never started a thread on builds on my syty's before but figured i would now on my baby to keep track of its progress (always evolving lol).

Little bit of history---4 years ago

When i first bought it the trans was shot (big surprise) and the motor was barely holding on but the body and frame was straight. This sy was originally meant to be mandis sy but i quickly stole it :squint:.

So, after some elbow grease..new rebuilt motor and trans and some paint i ended up with this.

After getting alot of the bugs worked out of her ran it down the track a BUNCH of times destroying a couple transmissions
Even raced it at pinks all out and cooked my converter
Best time was 11.2 in 1/4. ;)

Sooo,i decided that it was too slow now and i wanted to go faster. So i tore the truck down again. My main goal is to have the fastest STOCK block syty. I want to see just how far i could get the little 4.3 stock block. Alex and frank did a good job upping the anty before they decided to go another route with there builds. Reading from what they have done and also talking to alex on some things he would have done better and some research im going to attempt to take off where they left off.

After taking the truck apart i also wanted to address safety issues too. So loaded up the sy and hauled ass up to see Mr. Jeff Scott to help me build a cage in the sy...had a awesome fun weekend with him getting it done FYI

Cool, I saw the thread about your cage. What do you plan to do about the rear window? I love all the build threads, they keep me motivated.

So now my attention is turned to suspension and brakes. Need to be able to launch the truck great and also stop.

So installed a set of jsm a-rms, front q1a adjustable coilovers, and renz's c5 kit with brakes.

Also upgraded to a larger front sway bar and bushings. Installed a zq8 steering box and all new tie-rod's and balljoints.

Goin to be tackling the rear here soon. Waiting on some parts to come in.

Tisk tisk, you need the Edelbrock tie rod adjusters to finish all that off.

Looks great!
