Belt sqeak

Guys

MY Sy keeps having aproblem with belt sqeak/slipping. It's driving me crazy!

I have replaced the tensioner twice and replaced the idler pulley. I have tried three different belts. What am i missing?

I even took the water pump pulley and had it trued up on a lath to make sure it was smooth and straight.

The new belts quite sqeaking for a few miles then comes right back.

Mine did that until the alt. took a crap on me...Jim

This started after i had a alt lock up and shread the orignal belt. i replaced the alt and belt and now it has been a PITA. I even reused my stock alt pulley.

Just a thought Pat but maybe the alt lockup torqued something

My dad had this happen on his Sonoma. I cleaned up all the pulleys with brakeclean, than reinstalled the belt. Problem was fixed. There was belt "crap" over the pulleys, and inside the grooves, causing a little bit of slippage, I guess.

I found the problem.


The power steering pulley has walked off the shaft about 1/16 of and inch. i dunno how or why. but i pressed it back on and all is great.

I too have a squeeky belt that is driving me NUTS! My squeek only comes on when I turn on my heater system or A/C. Does your belt squeek all of the time or when you activate the ac/heat system? I have changed my belt with no change to my problem....How about you??

mine was a problem all the time. It sounds like you may have a a/c clutch thats slowing failing.

Have you replaced the belt tensioner?
