axle shaft pops out on sharp turns

well ive been trying to fix this problem for a wile now the passenger side axle shaft (the one that goes inside the diff) always pops out on a sharp left turn. ive replaces the c clip on the end of the axle, and put a new half shaft in and it still pops out, any ideas please help this 2wd sy isnt very fun to drive

I dont know if there is some sort of steering limiter from the factory ,but dont turn so sharp?

haha yea i cant figure it out its only on left turns and only on the passenger side axle shaft

Sure your diff housing isnt cracked there? C-clip should fix that but if the entrance is damage you will need a new housing..

Is the axle poping out of the diff or is the cv joint poping apart?

I would suggest that the bearing at the end of the housing is bad. Or, if it has done it more than a few times then the either the grove where the clip goes at the end of the axle is worn or wherever the clip ends up inside the dif is worn.

Something somewhere is putting strain on the axle in a way it wasn't designed for and now it won't stay.

How's the condition of the transfer case? If the VC is locked up, somethings got to give. That might be the weakest link.

Is the axle poping out of the diff or is the cv joint poping apart?

the axle in the diff is comin out, i talked to a GM service rep that used to come around my families dealership and he said it might be the frame and im starting to think that because the carfax report said it was in a front end collision way back in the day so i think im going to take it to a friends shop and put it on the frame rack and see what that says. i drove it today and it does pull to the right so who knows i'll let you guys know what happens btw thanks for all the help

c clip is weak. try opening it up some more when you install it. also while your at it remove the drive gear that goes into the R%P ad check for wear where the c clip sits. it it's worn too much it will akeit easier for it to come out.

So did you get this fixed? Have you done any more work to the truck? Im curious to see how it comes along, it was pretty rough the last time I saw it...

well it doesnt look to bad now after a bath and some wax except the roof needs some paint but as far as the axle goes i havn't taken it to the frame shop yet to get it checked out but i'll let you know what happens. you should bring your truck down to 75-80 dragstrip so i can check it out ill bring mine out so you can blow my ass away:rotf:

As soon as I rebuild the transfer case/find another one I am there. I will definitely let you know what weekend im heading down!
