Anyone lift a Ty shell off the chasis?

what did you use to lift it? And what did you place it on after is it off?

Hoist and we always rolled the frames out and swapped everything that way. these are the body shop days when we did frame swaps.

You mean chop shop days right?

actually salvage yard and body shop could pull a ford pick up off the frame in 3 hours.

Off the top of my head...

There is a ground strap at the tailgate that is easy to miss. Dont forget to unbolt the gas filler neck. Oh, and I think the taillight harness is back there too. Unhook the shifter cable from the tranny. The wiring harness must of course be disconnected in the engine bay. The front shock mounts are the highest point if I remember correctly, so if you are pulling the frame out from the rear, keep this in mind. There are 6 body mounts by the way. Two right near the firewall, two over rear wheels, and two near the tailgate.

I used three 4x4s (2 2x4s oriented with there width vertical for strength) to span each set of two body mount pads on the body. I carefully jacked up each set and essentially rocked the body upward from the front-middle to front-rear and so on.

It wasnt as hard as I thought I was going to be, but quite time consuming doing this way by myself.

Off the top of my head...
There are 6 body mounts by the way. Two right near the firewall, two over rear wheels, and two near the tailgate.

there are also 2 on the radiator support and 2 behind the doors.
