i would like to offer Dave P an apology

I STILL THINK HES A GREAT GUY AND A VALUABLE RESOURCE TO Our COMMUNITY and this board.

my only difference with him is the flat tappet cam 1987 and older cars which has nothing to do with our trucks at all.

sorry for the hassle

......isn't bringing much relevant info to the subject at hand.

Do you guys even remember what that might be?

Oh, thats right. Whether people are using ZDDPlus or any other oil containing higher levels of ZDDP.
Let me dissect your opening post in this thread sentence by sentence.

Or any high Zinc and phosphorus containing oils?
This is your opening question. You asked about OIL. Delo 400, which is what I've used in all my gasoline engines for over 12 years, and in the Diesels I service and run for over 30, contains high levels of Z and P. "High" in thie case of Delo400 being 1200ppm, which is 50% higher than the current Mobil-1 10-30, and twice as high as current SM and SN spark-ignition API-spec oils.

Have you had a chance to look at your engine to check for wear of lack of wear?
I mention in my first reply, that no, I had not had an opportunity to inspect any of the engines, because they were all still running. I DID ask John [boy89], who purchased my red/gry 3 years ago what the bearings in his engine looked like when he disassembled it. And he replied: "Fine". The engine had 35K miles on Delo 400 30W, and suffered a catastrophic failure barely 2 weeks after he took delivery. A good testament to Delo. That it "only" had 35K miles is irrelevant in a SyTy. One over-boost takes out SyTy bearings. Lots of SyTy engines suffer bearing-related failures with a lot less than 35K miles.

I think I'm gonna run it as much as possible in my new engine. Just looking for people that have used it and their experiences.
Now here, you specifically ask about ZDDP. And I responded that I have never felt the need to run it, as the oil I use already has adequate (IMO) Zinc and Phosphorous.

Just want to clear the air. You asked about OIL, as well as ZDDP additive. I admittedly got a little off-track with discussion about viscosity, which I feel is very important, more so than Z and P levels in roller-lifter engines.

Re: Anyone been using ZDDPlus?

I built and installed an engine for Sy2455. Sy2455 is not only a "friend", He is also a paying, satisfied, client. Which as I said earlier tin this thread, is my primary concern. That my paying clients are happy with their expenditure.

The engine he paid for was delivered with Delo 400 30W in it. Whether he continues to use that oil in it or not, is up to him.

You also RebuiltBuilt My SY, and out of 7 trucks It runs the Best Thanks!
