well my friends know I just bought a sy(its not even here yet ) and i'm already getting the why did you buy that slow sob...... AHHHH . well its bones stock o I know I need to cover the basic tune stuff / fluid changes and all.
My one freind is running a 06 gto 6-speed intake,drag radials,exhaust
other buddie is running a 02 vette 6-speed,intake, longtubes, full exhaust, clutch upgrade, tires, longer rockers and a good tune.

Lets use this old truck and make a bunch of b****es out of them. tell me what you would do. I got about $1,000 to use

I am a 1/4 mile guy only, I know i will not be able to make any highway runs against a worked vette.

I ate up a 06 gto last weekend. See my mods in my sig. I had him up till we let off(90mph) We looked at each other from a light and both jumped on it hard. The guy had at least an exhaust setup because you can hear it. check this out: http://www.sportmachines.com/maintenance/recipe1.php its a good start.

The biggest thing is make sure your truck run fine with no knock retard. With a proper boost launch you should beat all of them off the line, it just a matter when do they pass you. If you get them off thier drag radial crutches, it will take them almost a full quarter mile if they do pass you.

The combination below with a good running truck should do a 12.5 in a Sy.

Some of the parts are dated (IC Pump Switch not needed), ATR exhuast discontiued, there are other 3 bar recipes. After this you will eventually need to address the front propshaft & motor mounts. You also will want to address the transmission cooling (Cooler & Deep Pan) because that will also eventually go as well.

It's just a six

GTO's have a really hard time to launch hard, so you should eat those up easy on the start.
At a 2700FT track they run 13's all stock @ about 98-100mph.
My friends 04 ran 13.01 best but he spins alot w/stock tires.
He put a SLP full headers, exhaust "loud mouth" mass 80 mm air flow sensor,K&N & Grannatelli tuner programmer & it's slower than when it was stock.
Corvettes are better for launching, lighter car they seem to run 13's @ 2700 ft track being stock.
GTO's will beat you top end (Highway speeds) also, they are not too slow a car from 100 & up.
But I spank his 04 GTO anywhere below 100 & my friends 2001-2002? BMW M5 below 100

Those are some fast times. You will need a good tune and those mods just to keep up with that.
