I only driven it little bit and it did seem to run off last time i drove it . :(

What may have happened as a result of this ? It is a new build as far as the vortec install goes , so must have not gotten tightened properly .

Looks to me like your pushrods are maybe too short? I would check the geometry of all that. MIght need longer studs also.

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

hard to tell from the pics, are the rocker studs threaded or pressed in? I had this keep happening to me when the pressed in head studs were pulling out of the head. The adjustment doesn't look loose at all from the pics?

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

on a second look at the pic, you are running 1.6 rockers and the push rod openings are not machined. The push rod hits the head at full valve open. I also had this issue with my heads 1.6 rockers and 412 cam and learned the hard way...

those self aligning rockers? they dont look like it, if thats the case then they will spit the pushrods out the side like that

Thanks for everyones input so far , i knew you guys would have some options to run through. I did have hopes of doing more today but gave up after i saw that .

Instead i decided to take the family to the park , helped out a stranded guy with no gas along the way and figured id do some research on this matter when i got home .

Yeah they are the 1.6 self aligning rockers and i just bought the pushrods recommended by rpm .The heads are rpm's premier package and honestly i didnt check the pushrod hole clearances . I also see what you mean about the dropped lifter possibilty . I am going to look into it further and see whats the deal . thanks again .

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

I could be wrong like I am a lot of the time but those really do not look like they have the "self aligning" parts on the rockers.

There should be a washer next to the roller tip on both sides and I cannot see them at all

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

the crane rockers like that just have a little half moon shape forged into the rocker body itself, so it would be hard to see at that angle.

Take a picture of the underside of the rocker for us. i had summit send me 1 non self aligning rocker packaged in with the self aligning ones i ordered.

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

did you ever get your rear ladder bar setup put on?

they are on now and ride great . i mounted the rear shock tabs in the same place as the other dustan installed pics but with the shock adjustment all the way , i still cant match my front end . i just swapped to the front rpm arms and dont want to raise the front any so the rear will be getting another set welded on . no big deal really , i had no way to measure the spring loaded so i went with the pics i had .

im going to snap a pic of the underside of a rocker and put it up .bbl .

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

The one pic looks like the pushrod is really close to the inside of the hole, if not touching.

They don't look like self-aligners to me either, but hard to say without looking at the bottom.
They look almost identical to my 1.52 Comp rockers, and without guideplates, they're all over the place.
Even with guideplates, they move around a bunch.

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

they are comp cams rockers , and the vortecs have the screw in studs .

i dont want to machine the heads so should i get 1.5's and be done with it ?

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

well those are self aligning after all. Check clearances and pushrod length before swapping rockers

Re: And i thought tuning was my only problem ...

Check the rest of your rods and see if any others are bent. Also check to see if the bent rod has been caused by pushing against the holes in the the head.

If all the rest of the rods are ok and the rods don't touch the heads, check to see how centered the roller tip is on the valve stem. You should be able to see the wear lines on top of the valve stem. The wear line will be approx an 1/8 inch wide and should be close to centered acrossed the stem. If the wear line is running close to either edge then your push rod length needs to change.

I have seen where a push rod was not in the lifter correctly and bolted down by mistake. This would cause the rod to bend like yours. Check everything explained above first, if all ok then replace the one rod.
